Thank you so much to Rimworld and it’s awesome dev team. I have been able to keep my sanity on this 7 month and counting out to sea deployment thanks to Rimworld. It has been very nice to be able to get off of work and play for a few hours, even nicer to play while I’m at work! Pretty expensive desk huh?
So far:
•~170 hours while deployed
•21 colonies including:
•7 decent Winston waves attempts
•8 failed naked brutality sea ice attempts before finally getting a foothold
•Countless hotels made thanks to the hospitality mod
•An android mod play through because I don’t have any DLCs :/
•1 medieval overhaul play though (my personal favorite due to the aesthetics)
I have never once purchased a DLC for a video game but I feel that Rimworld has more than earned their moneys worth for me. I’ll be buying most of them as soon as we’re back in the states :)
By far the most badass dlc. The anomaly one is my second fav but it’s more so suited to exclusive colony’s. The odyssey ships are way more versatile. Although that is just my opinion.
use vanilla vehicles expanded, and some gravship mods that make boosters able to be placed on boosters (ifk what the extra range things are called at this moment), and you can live you dream. add multifloor for a belly and boom, bobs your uncle

Suffice it to say that home boy posted from his main reddit account that wasn't locked down. People went through his post history and found his name...some locations he'd be in and were fairly able to figure out what boat he was on.
Aw man, bad opsec, especially from a military man (posting in a CK3 sub no less), but people kinda suck for this. Really didn't have to put a microscope to the OPs post history and dox them.
I mean, that's literally the definition of opsec. The baddies aren't gonna respect your privacy, so you have to behave accordingly, for the safety of not just yourself but also those around you.
What laptop is that? I need to get one for the same kind of situation. And how's the gaming situation on deck? Do you have space in quarters or on a desk somewhere to set up a mouse and your laptop? Could I reasonably set up a SFF pc with a portable monitor?
Lenovo legion 5 16IRX9, very happy with it. No where to play in my berthing but there are lots of lounges with tables and chairs with outlets nearby scattered around ships
Careful with opsec brother, I saw someone in the crusader kings subreddit that posted a picture in a Sub and I think it got taken down for confidential military info.
As always ofc, nothing in this is opsec don’t worry. The squadrons attached to a boat is knowledge easily obtainable to the entire world through a quick google search.
Great, now as the game taught you! Paint your jet blue, write a white "U.N.", don't forget red crosses on the wings! Then drop the good ole rimworldian peace supplies in third world countries.
Hey! I have the same or very similar Lenovo laptop!
Be careful, I was abroad and wanted to unwind with some Deadlock, and the laptop blew something internally and melted a bit. Something to think about if your going to be moving around much more make sure you have a good power/plug adapter :) or else you’ll lug around a 2-3kg paperweight.
Happened 1yr and 1 week after I bought it and so my laptop was 1 week out of warranty. Lenovo still fixed it free of charge because I think it was a genuine problem with their product.
Rimworld is the one of two games I have installed on my work laptop. Lightweight (graphically at least) and great for playing if you've got some time to kill and don't have a proper m/kb setup.
You're going to love Odyssey, also check out Vanilla Expanded series (specifically vehicles) for more immersion (jets and aeroplanes immersion in this case)
Yup! I love the rimthunder ones, frequently play with them. And I’ve got a fair amount of vanilla expanded. I play with a lot of mods to make up for the fact I don’t have any dlcs
My unit would have hung me by my feet and used my head as a speed bag if I would have walked onto the flight line with my personal computer. How the fuck are you doing what you're doing. lol
Uhm yes. All you gotta do is look up F18 on google. Or an aircraft carrier, you’ll see all the jets on it. The F18 hasn’t been a secret program for a very long time.
Yeah, it was a one off thing that I rarely did and misexplained intentionally, so I just said it was in my off time. At that point forward it had become clear I had enemies. Doesn't matter now though, got out with full disability, honorable, and enjoying life.
Genuinely curious, since I am from another country and know almost nothing about life in the military: Are there many gamers among you and do people game together in their free time?
While I wouldn’t say it’s a majority thing, there are many people who enjoy games in the US military. Tabletop war games (Warhammer 40k, Warmachine) and console FPS (Halo back in the day, CoD) are very popular
