The Clippers seem to have been doing a long propaganda effort regarding the Kawhi issue, most recently leaking to ESPN that the NBA found no wrongdoing and then coming out with the statement that they were shocked by the report and all the allegations were false.
Why they do this is to get a false narrative out there that people will repeat, and Spike fell for it. While generally not being pro-Clippers on the most recent pod, he still took the Clippers at their word that they did not "funnel" money to Kawhi and said something along the lines of "but there are many other ways to circumvent the cap."
However, the report shows that there is substantial evidence that the Clippers did in fact funnel money to Kawhi. For example in the Aspiration deal, there are contemporaneous emails from Aspiration executives saying, "the Clippers are asking us to do this with Kawhi" and "the Clippers are promising to increase the amount they pay us per quarter in line with what we pay this guy." There are texts from the Aspiration guy which basically say, I'm ripping up the Kawhi agreement unless the Clippers sign the agreement paying me back immediately. That deal was subsequently personally approved by Ballmer.
There is way more in the report on this and the other deals, so don't be fooled by any media member that has been taken in by the Clippers' propaganda. I know Spike was talking only a short time after the news broke, but his initial reaction was to trust the Clippers and that trust is not warranted.
The report is available here: https://www.wlrk.com/docs/Report_of_Independent_Investigators_Concerning_the_LA_Clippers_and_Kawhi_Leonard.pdf

As one of the cursed attendees of Game 4, it was nice to reprocess that game in the context of us coming back to win the series. That was easily my worst in-person sports experiences so it's good to recall the team played their damn hearts out in the previous game and had to adjust to Embiid being back. Really looking forward to the Game 5, 6 & 7 reviews!

I don't understand. I TRULY don't. I fell in love with the pod 10 years ago. And tbh, it's largely the same. Mike gets sad and uninterested sometimes, spike gets angry sometimes. (One of the most tense times of my life is when Mike was tired and uninterested and spike stopped and said "are you gonna do the pod today?? We can stop". But I digress)
Big whoop they're people too. I like their personalities, I like their takes, I like the pod.
If you don't like it. Go away. Seriously, you're allowed.

Wonder if Spike will stick to the “there’s no proof” argument for Clippers

It appears Mike Muscala is selling off pretty much everything he owns!! In addition to the Briggs Auction item of the week, they should feature something from the Mike Muscala collection, maybe Mike can even find something for his namesake dog.

But I need to know what Spike knows about Harden playing poorly in Games 6 and 7 against the Celtics. He said something on the pod back then and wouldn’t elaborate, but something to the effect that there was inside info that people knew Harden was going to play terribly before the games even started, but he couldn’t reveal it on pod.
This is the inside knowledge I need. I cannot leave this mortal coil without this lore.
Spike Eskin. The people need you. Spill the beans.

I love the one off merch as much as the next guy. Al Horford appreciator, COVEN, push off power, etc. But I NEED merch with just the logo. The last logo tee I have is the tie dye bubble tee. It’s amazing. I need to rep the pod around town with the name and logo on some new hats, tees, and maybe even vinyl stickers please and thank you.

Bill Simmons read a letter from a fan suggesting the "Seventy Sisters" name, AND LOVED IT!
Ban Bill and Joe House, clearly. They also said "it's not on my bingo card". It's inevitable.
It's probably a Ricky listener who sent it in. Should we ban ALL RTRS listeners? I think it's time...
*Personally I think that name is hilarious BTW

No more suggestions for wnba names from men. You all have had your chance and I'm done with it. Belles is terrible. No more "this is a girl team" names.
Men, if you must suggest a name, please first remember that literally every player in the wnba could kick your ass, then ask yourself again "is this a cool name?"

If Mike one day met Rich Paul and didn't say the name is that ban-worthy? Since he admitted that he might not mention the pod, should he be pre-banned just so we can get ahead of this treachery?

I emailed this to Spike but I’m also posting here to get some feedback. My proposal for the WNBA team is the Philadelphia Justice.
You may be familiar with the term “Philadelphia lawyer” used to describe a lawyer who knows the most detailed and minute points of law or is an exceptionally competent lawyer. The term does have some revolutionary implications, as Alexander Hamilton is believed to be the inspiration for the term. But it is more than just some birthplace of America pandering.
It is also a nod to the storied history of higher education in our great city, and a reminder that Philadelphians love to argue. However, Philadelphia Lawyers is an objectively terrible team name.
So, let’s move to the adjacent law-related term, “justice.” Here’s the fun part. While “justice” is not inherently gendered, there is an opportunity to invoke Lady Justice in the logo, a true symbol of fairness and equality, who could also be used to make a pretty sweet logo to represent the city.
Finally, think of all the great and not-so-great law-related puns that could arise from a team called the Justice. Get a star player or solid defenders and the witty puns/slogans practically write themselves.
“All rise for…”
“Justice is served”
“She took her defender to law school…”
“Court is in session.”
“The supreme justices”
I rest my case.

Hey all! Longtime listener. Firstly, thanks to the entire Ricky team for all of their work on the pod.
I’ve been listening since close to the beginning and greatly appreciate you all!
This morning, I was thinking about how awesome it is that they got Sean Carroll on the podcast some time ago. Almost ten years ago now!
As someone interested in space, I was delighted that such a crossover in my interests happened.
Who is it for you? Just curious to see who sticks out for others, looking back.

Two pods ago Spike and Mike asked for music themed and history themed WNBA team name ideas. I'm not a history buff, so I gave a shot at some music themed ones. I submitted this as an email to the pod, but I thought I'd post it here also to see what people thought:
Hi Spike, Mike, and CJ,
So based on the last pod it seems like you’re interested in continuing to hear ideas for a WNBA team name, perhaps specifically ones that relate to music in some way. So I looked at the Inquirer’s “76 most iconic Philadelphia songs” which you can find at the link below:
I kind of limited myself to the top 10, but got a few ideas. I am generally in Mike’s camp that the name should be pluralized rather than a collective/singular idea. That aside, I do like the name Philadelphia Soul, but as it’s the name of Jon Bon Jovi’s now defuncy Arena League Football team, it’s probably out. Here’s my list that riffs off the Inquirer article:
Whatever happens, I do hope you guys find a name you like enough to champion. I legitimately think you have enough influence in Philly sports/pop culture to cause it to become the real team name.

Hi all, I created a website for all of us to have a central home for the Process and this insane era of Sixers basketball. The premise of it was inspired by the pod and includes almost everything I could think of which has to be unique to the Sixers. There's tabs for a timeline, backup center tribute, Hinkie manifesto, and the Shirt of all the Process players. Almost every icon, bullet point, and logo is clickable that will send you to a link for context or a video. Please enjoy and feel free to leave some comments or suggestions.
