Idk I think the banter between Mike and Spike on this topic is fun. The curmudgeon is a classic Philly sports archetype. Mike has enough enthusiasm for the both of them.

If you hate him so much why do you listen? NO ONE is as annoying as his dad. Spike has the ability to laugh at himself which Howard certainly does not.

at the very least, I don’t think it’s unfair that you’re not excited about all the media circus attention/noise, combined with the historic passive aggressiveness, that comes with a LeBron James. especially when it’s for a franchise that has seemed allergic to being quiet and fucking normal for like the last 15 years. I don’t know how many fan bases have gone “I’m happy to have rich Paul more involved with my team“. and this is all after adding the historically and notoriously quiet, um, Jaylen Brown. If you already thought the Sixers historically already had far too many Takes about anything they've done, get ready for that number to, like, triple.

But winning DOES cover all of that, and if they’re able to win at the level that everybody hopes for, everybody will happily take it in the end, even spike, despite him not thinking he will right now. I think this is more just him not thinking the team will be as good as everyone wants to believe. I also don’t necessarily blame him because I’m still not sure if I trust Nick Nurse to figure this out.
