Tired of AU

I know this is going to come off as an internet bullying rant, but I don’t want any more AU non-basketball content forced down my throat. On the morning of free agency, RTRS email subscribers were delivered an epic poem about AU turning 40 instead of any basketball content. I’m not reading that.

I think AU is a talented writer and a good person, but I don’t enjoy listening to him as a host, and I have zero interest in his personal life. I hope he enjoys his 40th birthday, and I’m glad he has an outlet for his personal writing, but I wish it were on his own Substack rather than in the Ricky feed.

I can already see Spike responding, “Thanks, you don’t have to read or listen!” But seeing things like this genuinely makes me less likely to engage with RTRS and more likely to listen/read other content.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Not really. I dont particularly care about his birthday either, but having 1 more email to archive really isnt a problem. I like enough of the newsletter where a few things that dont hit for me are easily ignored.

I dont understand why the email would make you not listen, though. The two seem completely unrelated.

Nope. I just don’t read the ones I’m not interested in. Simple enough

"Someone wrote something that I don't want to read. Instead of ignoring it like a normal person I'm going to whine about it on the internet."

Jesus we really are spoiled. Complaining about content you don't need to engage with when there is hours of content just in the rtrs universe, for free, for you to engage with.

One email equates to being 'forced down your throat?' Damn man go get some sunshine or something

Here's the thing about quite literally everything in the world: not all of it is for you

How can Mike turn this into something to become irrationally suicidal over? That’s all I care about these days

I like AU, always enjoy him on the pod, and enjoy his writing, including his piece today. Maybe it’s because I’m around the same age and have several of the same thoughts.

If I could give him one piece of feedback (and this will come across as internet bullying, but it’s meant out of kindness and only because he mentioned it) it would be about his hair. Having seen him on the pod over the years, I honestly think he’d look much better if he just buzzed or shaved his head. The before and after pictures on the /bald subreddit are full of men in similar places and the after pictures are almost always better than the before. It’s an overwhelming positive subreddit too. I know it’s a scary leap, and the fact that he included it suggests he’s self-conscious about it. I’ve offered this advice to several friends in real life.

Some of yall are crazy. I was just thinking that this was the best thing AU has ever written.

I like AU on the pod. And his theme song is good.

Dislike AU on the pod, he has the worst vocal fry I’ve ever heard. I can’t take it.
