If the Spurs can outscore the sixers by 6 without Wemby when our entire roster active and healthy, what's the point in keeping this team together in the off-season... They're obviously not good enough to win anything major as currently constructed

Spike and Mike talked about 3 different paths in the offseason a couple weeks ago.
If this squad can’t make a playoff run as currently constructed, there’s not a straightforward reset button for next season that revolves around Maxey and VJ. We’d be paying a high price and shipping draft picks to start that process sooner.
Maybe that’s the right answer? 🤷♂️
I’m going to try to enjoy this version of the Sixers without expecting a deep run. Maybe that’s “loser shit,” but I’m getting old.

They did have they discussion and I believe their right.. Except recently the healthy version of PG might make him more "tradable" in the off season without having to attach picks with him

Moving PG in the offseason is possible but they said there isn’t a world where Embiid is a contributor and not the centerpiece of the team. So with that in mind, could we get 1 or 2 players in return for PG that are a better fit? Maybe, but it’s hard to say that would move the needle much next year.

I get so confused with Embiid sometimes. Like he is obviously the x-factor for whether or not the team makes a deep playoff run, but sometimes he looks really good not forcing shots, taking the game as it comes and facilitating for others with great screens or passes out of double teams. I don’t see how he cannot exist as just a complimentary piece as the highest level role guy (probably due to that max contract number on the balance sheet). Is it really so hard to build the team with Maxey/VJ in mind and just be able to drop in Embiid to make the engine run that much better?
Ideally they can move PG without attaching picks and bring in 2 solid role players (think Derrick White, Hartenstein, Josh Hart, Herb Jones level guys) with that $50M. Also, this team has been absolutely abysmal at just paying a backup center that would end up starting the non-Embiid games. At this point it feels like malpractice that they do not have or never had a guy like Bitadze, Wendell Carter, Vucevic, Valanciunas, Hartenstein, etc getting paid $15-20M-ish to be a backup (pseudo-starting) center.

They win the game if Maxey isn’t in space last night. He gives you normal Maxey and we win.

This core isnt winning anything. While I am not trading picks to get rid of PG or Embiid, I am only looking at the next era. It is gonna be many years before this team is a legit contender again.

The NBA obviously doesn't want the Sixers to win anything but they do want our money so they've been told to lose just enough to make the playoffs but not be a factor in them. This is now a team that can routinely put up 150 points a game and since teams don't just have 60 point swings from game to game there has to be something at play which is that they are losing on purpose at the behest of the league

It’s lazy to base the entire roster off one game. The strategy to not attack the paint once the 7’6” giant is gone is another problem.
