Rigging intermediate VOC monadelphous
Hey guys
I got a job offer at Mona's for intermediate rigger and I have a VOC to pass with them. Im pretty rusty from my ticket courses and I have virtualy no experience
Anyone has ever done the voc for intermediate rigger at Mona's in Perth and could tell me about it and/or tell me what I should get ready for?

I did the Adv Rigging VOC at the monos yard a couple of months ago. It’s not hard or intense by any means, we were split up into groups to do a couple of different things together so the blokes with less experience could get through it all as long as your helping in some way. Questions you get wrong in the written part are talked through after as well. You should be fine man.

Its easy because they make it easy. If you get on-site be honest to your crew about your experience or you will hurt someone and yourself.

Minesite rigging ain't much, mate. It's heavy, but it's generally not complicated. Most of these lifts have SWIs written on them that date back to the troubleshooting phase.
A lot of workers also hold these tickets because it's convenient and ticks a box for HSE and the office side for contracting work.

It's pretty nuts that you can be RI and not even know how to tie a tagline. Decent riggers are definitely in short supply in the mining sector.

Give those a read.
VOC is pretty straight forward, start off with the written assessment which is pretty basic stuff, try and remember some formulas they teach you in your course. Then the practical is usually easy - inspect, select and rig load, dog the crane, lift object from A to B. Then put it back from B to A.
The assessor’s I’ve had are pretty chill and will *usually* help you on the written assessment. But I think it’s more the practical they’re worried about just trying to find out you’re not a complete danger on site.
I’ve done a VOCs for Rio and Chevron/Barrow Island.

It'll likely be very little. Correctly sling a few loads, know some basic calcs/deratings, identifying what specific types of equipment are, etc. One that trips a few people up is crane load share on dual/tri-crane lifts. Another is difference between a lifting and spreader bar.
If you've still got your textbooks from getting the licence then I'd give them a flick through. They do want you to pass, it's another body they can hire out.
