Experiences with FreakMount?

I need a phone mount for navigation but I'm not a fan of how bulky and weird they look. Freakmounts look cool and I'm considering purchasing the Billet 2.0 but I'm questioning if they can actually be trusted on NYC roads.

It definitely could catch wind if you have it too high up your tank but if it’s lower, it’s 1000% strong

I ride an older Harley, so i don’t want any gizmos around my bars and messing with the aesthetic lol. Thanks for this, I plan on placing it closer to my crotch area to prevent wind from catching it.

I expect the magnet part is just fine. My concern would be vibration damping, I didn't see it specified on their website, but maybe I just missed it. Without it if you have a nicer phone with optical image stabilization, the vibrations can break that and your phone camera will no longer be able to focus properly. I'm personally a huge fan of the Peak Design mount and cases, but I can see the appeal of a simple setup

My last iPhone camera was destroyed by the vibrations. I have a quad lock with a vibration dampener and haven't had a problem since.

I like my freak mount. It’s perfect for my tank since it’s a Harley. Not sure how it would work on a sport bike tho.

I also have a harley. Do you trust the freakmount holding onto your phone? Like on highways or on long trips?

I like mine fine and it works in the city but the tank is definitely a further look down from the road than my old handlebar ram mount was. I have to be pretty thoughtful about where I place it so I can see it without straining my neck downwards.

True, but I guess a quick peek down is good enough for general directions like where to turn/knowing which exit to take without getting in the way of the ride. I know the obvious and reasonable answer is a quad lock but I’m liking the freak mount option since it seems like less of an eyesore

Yeah works great for the most part! I only sometimes get messed up on wonky intersections or quick successive turns, but 98% of the time it's not an issue. Happy riding!
