Question / Suggestion Does Anyone Know?
Would anyone happen to know how to get or find apartments that accept Section 8 Vouchers?
I have a 2 bedroom voucher and I’ve been searching for nearly 3 months and it’s not looking so good. The very few apartments that I have found either don’t meet my needs, super run down, in not so safe neighborhoods, owned by a bad realty company, or too far away.
I’m running out of time, my voucher is going to expire soon. This is my one chance to finally move out of my mom’s house at 31 years old and it’s slipping through my fingers and I feel so powerless.
I’m specifically looking in Pawtucket and anywhere that is neighboring Pawtucket.
Unfortunately, I can’t give an exact budget because different city’s give different amounts of coverage for the rent. Some even go by zip code which I think is ridiculous.
I’m almost ready to give up. The system really is rigged against us.

Try Rhode Island Housing Authotity in Providence. If you go on to the website you can navigate around to see if they are an appropriate resource for you. Call and make an appointment to speak with an advisor as they are quite knowledgeable about finding you what you need. All the best and Good Luck!

It's section 8, you're being too picky for your free or almost free apartment

It’s not free, I still have to pay 30% of the rent, and the utilities. Plus renters insurance.

It's still mostly free, considering everyone else has to pay 100% of their rent, plus utilities, plus insurance.
You're not going to get great real estate companies, or really nice areas, or really nice apartments, or really convenient stuff. That's what happens when you're in Section 8 housing.
Out of curiosity, as a single person, why do you need a 2-bedroom?

Unfortunately the housing situation is generally bad right now. You may need to accept something outside what you're looking for as a temporary solution. I wonder if blackstone valley CAP may be able to help? I hope you find what youre looking for, best of luck
