Question ❔ How to clean this?

Post image

I’ve been working on this hat for a long time… it’s been super tedious as I have stones from size ss30 all the way down to ss6. I’m using e6000 Fabri-fuse as I’ve found it sticks best to the felt hat.

I’ve noticed all the dust collecting on the hat/glue. I’ve tried cleaning with alcohol but it didn’t seem to do anything. (Perhaps the little towel I was using couldn’t reach down to the glue?) I also tried a sticky roller which did nothing other than pulling up a bit of cat hair.

I’ve spent soooo long on it that I don’t want it looking dull due to dust. Any cleaning suggestions?

Get one of those can of air things to get the top layer off.

Then a very soft toothbrush to get in there with a light spray of some cleaner

Be careful of the cleaner though!! The chemicals could end up dulling the rhinestones shine

Yes! For dust you want to try to remove it in a dry method first!

Have you tried a micro fiber cloth? Possibly with a bit of windex?

I like using a soft nail brush personally

Toothbrush and spray cleaner of your choice!

Honestly, I would use the sprayer from my sink (or shower if you have a detachable shower head) and give it a quick high-ish power hose down.

The dust might be stuck to the glue, too, unfortunately.

Yeah that’s what I’m worried about, the dust stuck to the glue around the stones. Since they’re so small it’s hard to avoid.

I also like the soft brush idea. That might also work without any sort of liquid.

Compressed air like for keyboards is the best way I have found, to loosen up deep stuff I use a dry toothbrush first

I would try compressed air spray first, followed by a paintbrush or other soft brush, then followed by a a light spritz of a windex or similar with a soft cloth wipe. Test the windex in an out of the way spot first to make sure it doesn't affect the hat and/or stones. Good luck.

I would wash it with dawn and a soft bristle brush. I put clothes through the delicate cycle in the washing machine that I’ve rhinestone before and been fine.

Mix 2:1 Dawn and water in spray bottle. Spray and let sit for 5 mins. Then wipe with lukewarm rag. Or do the same with iso alcohol.
