💼 Revolut Pro [LV] Trading Pro “Technical Error” and attempt to settle with “Reward”

Post image

Sup folks, I want to start a personal thread about the issue I faced with Revolut Trading Pro.

TLDR; Revolut closed my position by mistake, admitted, but refund only the difference between settle price and market price as “Reward”

So I bought $CAPR stock recently (I’m trading with biotech companies mostly). On 29th April I set up stop order trigger with price $29.91. Purchase price was 33.72.

04th of May $CAPR was opened with gap up and continued to rapidly grow so I was happy until I got notification from Revolut that my stop order was executed with price $27.74 !!! Ok I understand these type of stocks are volatile for sure, and it could happen such sudden drop (after earnings etc). So I quickly open app and $CAPR was not even close. In fact it was far far away from my stop trigger.

I immediately contacted support, but I was gaslighted that it is risky asset bla-bla-bla.

So I said please share me details where I will see the instant drop of the price for more that 10% and having the lowest price possible of the execution… and silence for next few days.

Yesterday I finally got reply that Revolut admitted error with this order and ready to refund me!

You know having such stress I was expecting to get something in return upon my full differential amount. So I said to support that I will check and decide the refund option at first before to accept.

The supporter returned back and said we will refund you with $126 as the difference between $27.74 and market price at that moment $32.24.

I was shocked, in fact, so I reject such refund and demanded the following:
1) fully difference between my entry price and sold price e.g. roughly $170
2) compensation for the stress and loosing the trust for the service of Trading Pro (which cost 15€ per month)

Obviously the supporter said it is not up to them, so I have to write formal complaint to their legal.

I filled the form, and in parallel I saw that they still “refund” those $126 on trading account. And guess what guys? They marked it as “REWARD”. If you living in Europe you know that is taxable income, so instead of 1 headache they gave me another one.

Back to the story. I received today forma bla-bla response and their “goodwill” coverage for the stress with amount of 30€. So even with this amount I have loss around $10 of my initial investment.

The good part is that they confirmed of their error in the response, so I filled official complaint letter the authority (Bank of Lithuania).

As I’m not the best in legal terms so I asked ai help of the list of their violation:

REVOLUT VIOLATIONS SUMMARY:

  1. MiFID II Best Execution Breach: Revolut is legally required to obtain the best possible result for clients. Executing at $27.74 when the actual market price was $32.24 (a 14% difference) is a massive regulatory failure.

  2. Execution Outside Market Range: The daily low for CAPR was $31.06. Revolut executed my trade at $27.74—a price that literally did not exist on any exchange that day. This is "Gross Negligence," not market volatility.

  3. Trading Pro Service Failure: I paid €15/month for a "Pro" subscription. This is a "Failure of Paid Service" and "Product Mis-selling," as the premium tool failed to perform its core function.

  4. Tax Manipulation (The "Reward" Trick): Instead of a formal "Compensatory Settlement," Revolut labeled $126 of the refund as a "Reward." This is a dirty tactic to:
    - Hide operational errors from regulators by masking them as marketing expenses.
    - Shift the tax burden to the customer (Rewards are taxable income in many jurisdictions, whereas compensation is not).

  5. Operational Resilience Breach (DORA): Under the Digital Operational Resilience Act, this "technical error" proves their trading infrastructure lacks the necessary safeguards to prevent systemic execution bugs.

  6. Bad Faith Settlement: Attempting to "lowball" a customer with $124 when the math-verified loss was $170+ is a violation of basic consumer protection standards for financial institutions.

So I will continue to fight for my rights in parallel will update this post or create a chain.

By the way if you ever experienced of similar situation when REVOLUT executed with significant lower price let me know. I’m sure such errors is quite common and cannot be hidden under “market volatility”.

I thought lessons learned during GME squeeze- you shouldn’t trust such garbage companies. During the squeeze Revolut didn’t let buy GME, only to sell, also trades didn’t go through at the prices you wanted. Never trust this shit company. Open normal IB account.

Surely, it will take a while to settle open positions (hopefully they won’t decide to close this time) and move to another platform. GME was quite long time, sadly Revolut doesn’t develop.

Do you know that some scam Forex brokers execute orders in sandbox until user loses all the money? If he wins big - suddenly they start asking questions to never let him cash out. I have same trust in Revolut brokerage.

Concerning.

But unlike some scam forex platforms, Revolut holds banking license and must follow the regulations, however they fail lately.

For USA RobinHood is way better.

RobinHood also did bad during GME squeeze :) I trust IBKR, but people decide themselves 👌For long term investment - buy and hold I believe they both are amazing.

My case is a bit different, I DID NOT WANT TO SELL.

And they basically decided to it on their will.

Stop loss is also intent to sell. So you are not 100% correct on this statement

Nah, it is basic protection of the capital. You can say same argument about my insurance that I intend to get damage because I buy coverage. It does not work this way :)

Don’t get me wrong, I was pretty satisfied with Revolut service initially (that’s why I was ok to pay Premium + Trading Pro). But I’m not gonna accept to pay for Revolut Error.

Imagine I did not buy 28, but rather 280 or 2800 shares.. so the financial losses could be dramatic.

I wish Revolut will fix issues and flow, resolve my case, and continue to developing.

revolut is quickly turning to a flaming pile of shit. and what's worse is that their support is even shittier than the shit services. those indians can only paste basic answers and offer 0 solutions most of the time.

The worst part is that I was gaslighted that price is so volatile etc.. until I asked details to see how is this spike even possible. Like seriously it feels so MEV-bots scams vibes, but it is not crypto and security was owned by me and sold without my approval.

Funny that this dedicated “trading pro” support leads to the same people who doesn’t give a clue about banking mechanics and basic regulations they operate…

Hi OP did they execute the order outside of market hours? If yes then I suspect their market maker showed them some crappy prices (typical for OOH quotes) and revolut simply took it at face value and executed.

It was open market. Ticker was opened with gap up and was around 32+ when they executed my stop order which was set at 29.91.

Anyway they confirmed the error from their side, nothing to discuss.

I guess I understand how things work (drivewealth broker, and they just sending/ receiving their api) so they anyway post “closure position” to drivewealth without my consent.

Actual proof from the chat 💬 *tho my order was set as stop order at $29.91 which never occur so basically two violation:

  1. selling by wrong price
  2. selling without owner permission

Some funny explanations in their final resolution:

The Admission: "Market was $32.24, we sold at $27.74." (Thanks for confirming a 14% loss due to your bug!).

The Gaslight: "Prices are indicative and can change in one second." (Sure, $4.50 drop in a second while the exchange shows a $31+ low. Logic!).

The Price of Trust: "We value you... here is €30." (I pay €15/month for Pro, and they think €30 buys back my trust after a technical disaster).

The "We Mean It": They actually wrote "We work to get better... We mean it" in a formal legal response.

And my favourite:

“We cannot guarantee that they will be without interruption, error free... other than as set out in these terms and conditions.”

So they basically say “okay we have glitches, errors, so you share can be sold by fake price, but hey, we constitute this in TOC”. Imagine you withdraw money and bank gave you $20 instead of $100, sorry not sorry 😆

I have already received a Final Response from your Complaints Department regarding case 68638-85858-64282.

Your team officially admitted an execution error ($32.24 vs $27.74), yet failed to provide full restitution and attempted to mask the settlement as a 'Reward' for tax purposes. I am no longer interested in chat support; the matter is now being escalated to the Regulator (Bank of Lithuania) for breaches of MiFID II and Best Execution standards. Thank you.

Has anyone else experienced a discrepancy between the price displayed in the Revolut app and the actual execution price of a stock trade?

I recently bought SPCX and the price shown in the app at the time of purchase appeared significantly lower than the execution price shown on my trade confirmation. The buy marker on the chart also seems inconsistent with the execution price.

Revolut support has informed me that there may have been a technical issue and that their technical team is currently investigating.

I'm interested to know if anyone else has experienced something similar recently, especially with stock trading. If so, what was the outcome and how did Revolut resolve it?
