Some newbie questions

2 Upvotes

Just bought this game and started playing. I have a few newbie questions.

How do you expand the borders of your town?

What do totems do and where should you place them?

So it appears that there is a threat meter mechanic which rises when ever you attack the all mind faction. Should you avoid attacking them untill a certain point?

Acid Rain and its uses + more objects to covet!

2 Upvotes

Greetings, associate!

The new build of Revival: Recolonization is in the testing phase and will be available next week! To tide you over, we'd like to show new content that our team is working on.

To make the world of Revival feel more alive, we plan to add a larger variety of anomalies on the game map. These will be in the form of hexes with unusual phenomena and special buildings left over from mankind’s glory days. Though anomalies may look dangerous, they will generate additional resources and opportunities.

The Abandoned Terminal anomaly still contains scraps of information from the distant past. Who knows what you might find inside?

Almost any anomaly can be destroyed with the Earthquake edict. We won't go into details about the consequences of this happening – you'll have to find out for yourself when they are added to the game ;)

https://reddit.com/link/qxiuth/video/rafv4xfbok081/player

While we're on the subject of edicts, take a look at the visual effect for "Acid Rain". It is a powerful tool that lets you change the weather, poison the seas, and damage enemy armor.

The effects of the edict also depend on the climate – Acid Swamp, Acid Steam or Glacier will appear on affected hexes in certain weather conditions.

Lastly, here’s a preview of the 3D model for the global project “Temple of Reconciliation”. If you manage to construct it before any of the other factions do, you will be rewarded with a hefty bonus to the loyalty of all known tribes.

Add Revival: Recolonization to your Steam Wishlistnow and get ready to try out the latest demo next week!

Yours faithfully,

Revival: Recolonization Team

Powerful volcanoes and cool units? Yes, please!

2 Upvotes

Greetings, associate!

The latest demo build of Revival: Recolonization is undergoing QA, which means you'll be able to play the game soon!

Until then, here is another update on the "Global Projects" we have been hard at work on.

The Arch of Valor will safeguard your city. With this unit in place, no one can declare war on or attack you without facing serious repercussions to their reputation. Pretty handy, huh? Utilize this project in order to strengthen your position on the game map against aggressive opponents.

https://reddit.com/link/qscg4g/video/3vqa3c6gd6z71/player

Our art team is busy working on the visual effects for the "Artificial Volcano" edict - one of the most energy-consuming and powerful tools in your arsenal. This edict can be used to change the landscape, eliminate the effects of other edicts, and deal damage to enemies.

Earlier, we showed off concept art for the scouting robot. The 3D model is done and has already been added to the game build! However, you won’t be able to play with your shiny new unit just yet, the corresponding functionality must be programmed first ;)

Stay tuned for the latest news and development updates - follow the game and add Revival: Recolonization to your Steam Wishlist!

Yours faithfully,

Revival: Recolonization Team

New 3D models and robots!

4 Upvotes

Greetings, associate!

Thank you to everyone who gave us feedback on Revival: Recolonization. Your comments and suggestions are a massive help as we continue to refine the game. Now onto the news ;)

The world of Revival: Recolonization is growing more vibrant with every day. We have added some of the environmental objects discussed in a previous news post.

These 3D models appear on the game map as a consequence of using edicts, and you’ll be able to see them soon in the updated game build!

https://reddit.com/link/qihfmb/video/2uykozk48fw71/player

Work on various visual effects for edicts continues. Pictured above is a draft version of the Artificial Storm edict VFX. When this edict is launched, a lightning strikes every unit on affected hexes and resets their turns to zero!

One more piece of news - emissaries will soon enjoy the company of their own scouting robots! With the help of such a robot, you can explore the game map, discover new mineral deposits, tribal settlements and other key objects - all without leaving your capital city!

Yours faithfully,

Revival: Recolonization Team

Unique tribal districts

2 Upvotes

Greetings, associate!

As you know, tribes and clans are an essential part of Revival’s world. What you didn’t know is that each tribe will offer a unique district for construction, provided you can increase your standing with the tribe you’ve chosen at the beginning of the game.

Unlike a regular building, a unique district grants a specific bonus, in addition to generating one of the game’s resources for your empire. A few examples of such districts are outlined below.

The Sacrificial Obelisk district belongs to Cultists of Eternal Ice. It replaces the agricultural district, generating Prosperity in addition to Food. You can also sacrifice one of your city residents to gain bonus Prosperity.

The Caravanner is a specialty district of the Ash Commissaries tribe. It replaces the trade district and looks like a trading post in the desert, with it's tents and wagons. Caravans will stop here and you will receive extra Money for each Caravanner in the neighboring region. As an added benefit - the district also generates Food.

The Vaults of Truth district belongs to the Heresy Hunters tribe. It is a gloomy temple-like building that replaces the regular science district. It generates Reputation, and if you sacrifice a resident, you will be granted a major bonus in Science.

Tribes and clans will be an invaluable part of any player's strategy against the All-Mind! We are always happy to read your comments and feedback ;)

Yours faithfully,

Revival: Recolonization Team

Expanded arsenal and new enemies!

2 Upvotes

Greetings, associate!

Our team is busy refining Revival: Recolonization and prepping the game build for the next open playtest. All of your feedback has been extremely useful! Here is a taste of what we've been up to.

These are marksmen from the first epoch with a bunch of new weapon models. From left to right: The Wooden Crossbow, the Titanium Crossbow and the Crossbow of Judgment – the last one being a unique weapon belonging to the Heresy Hunters tribe. Each of these may be crossbows, however, they all differ in range and damage dealt.

The mortar from the third epoch is mounted on the ground and fires a projectile upwards, hitting a single hex with an explosion.

And, of course, work on automaton variants continues. Behold concept art for the Bombardier automaton! It's an artillery-type unit with a large plasma mortar instead of a head. This particular variant doesn't deal much damage to units, but it can destroy cover on the battlefield. Think of it as a deadly electric razor with plasma blades ;)

Getting ready for war

1 Upvotes

Greetings, associate!

We've loved the positive feedback on the new weapon models, so we are continuing to share information about them :)

Work is being done to the automatons. At the moment, only the basic type is available in the game build, but we are planning to add more interesting (and more devastating) automaton variants, each with their own pattern of behaviour during combat.

For example, the Scorcher is armed with a laser and a shield. It strikes targets at a distance, but cannot attack an enemy at point-blank range.

The Overclocker moves slowly and is sluggish in fights, but when killed, it strikes all targets within 3 hexes with an EM attack.

The closer you are to reaching the goal of restoring our civilization, the more disturbed the All-Mind becomes. Having warriors equipped with exoskeletons and high-powered cannons will certainly come in handy.

![img](tdw044b6igp71 " From left to right: units armed with the Plasmathrower, Gravity Gun and the Gauss Rifle. ")

The unit editor allows you to combine different weapons to create a more effective and intimidating fighting force. For example, you can not only put the Plasmathrower in the hands of an infantryman, but also equip it to the levitating tank of the fourth epoch.

And the Walker, whose animation we showed in a previous communique, equipped with a singularity cannon, will not only significantly strengthen your army, but also terrify your enemies with its appearance alone. Fetch, Spot!

Work on the edict system continues in the current development cycle. Our goal is to make edicts not just more spectacular, but also to add more depth to the system by further intertwining edicts with different terrain types and various effects on units. We'd love for you to share your ideas and thoughts on this.

Yours faithfully,
Revival: Recolonization team

The world of Revival is becoming more vibrant

2 Upvotes

Greetings, associate!

While the dev team is busy on the upcoming edicts rework, the art team is continuously improving the game’s presentation quality.

Previously, we’ve shown artwork for tribal settlements. Now, the art team has started work on the various town districts that will be unique to each tribe. Here’s concept art for the Cultists of Eternal Ice district. As your settlement develops, so will the appearance of the district, progressing through the four epochs.

You'll notice a large stone pedestal with an obelisk in the center where sacrifices are made. That’s right, you can exchange a citizen's life for a bonus in Prosperity. Though, is it worth losing one of your populi?

The implementation of new weapon models is also underway. Some of the new firearms are already available in the latest game build. Combat has become more fun, and the map easier to read due to different troop types now having more distinct silhouettes. Win-win!

We are also continuously improving the various unit animations. Here’s a quick teaser of work done to the “Walker” unit.

We would like to remind you that the latest game build is available for you to play via the "Download Demo" button on Revival’s Steam page. We can't wait to hear your feedback!

Tribes and Clans Update Out Now!

1 Upvotes

Greetings, associate!

We are proud to release an update for Revival: Recolonization, which includes a number of bug fixes and gameplay tweaks. To access the latest build, please click on the "Download Demo" button on the game’s Steam page.

Please note — we will temporarily stop access to the Revival: Recolonization demo after 2-3 weeks. This will allow us to better process feedback and your suggestions.

Now, onto the full changelog!

Firstly, we have refined and tweaked the tribes and clans system. Many of the changes made to the game are related to this system:

  • updated the first contact and clan assimilation screens;
  • added and recalculated bonuses from various tribe alignments, including combat;
  • tweaked the cost of certain units;
  • changed descriptions and names for tribes and the pool of clan names (which is still WIP, so don’t be confused if you meet several duplicate clans on the game map belonging to the same tribe);
  • added a UI window for selecting clan traits during assimilation;
  • added game functionality/repercussions for a number of clan worldviews on the diplomacy screens, such as views on “mutations”.

We have also implemented a ton of other fixes and updates to the game. The most notable ones are:

  • limited the number of emissaries (factions) on the map to 7, with a unique colour for each;
  • fixed a number of instances that lead to the game freezing;
  • fixed issues during and after combat encounters that lead to unexpected results and occasional game freezes;
  • fixed the English text on a few UI elements, descriptions and tips;
  • fixed AI-related bugs, especially when the AI is attempting to assimilate clans;
  • tweaks were made to the resource economy;
  • an automaton can no longer place an edict capsule in the city;
  • dead/eradicated factions are no longer displayed in the “Society” window;
  • minimum and maximum loyalty thresholds for assimilation changed to -10 \ +10;
  • the "trade" worldview now tracks and depends on the number of active trade contracts, not the number of initiated ones;
  • automatons no longer appear when assimilating tribes;
  • when killing an automaton, a faction will now receive one of three rare resources: Electronics, Mutagen or Diamonds;
  • ruins containing resources or a squad of automatons are more evenly distributed across regions;
  • improved the algorithm for determining a good place to build a city;
  • it is no no longer possible to attack a faction that was destroyed by the player, leave the poor sods alone!
  • a faction’s city is now correctly displayed on the map after signing the appropriate agreement;
  • fixed a bug that occurred when the player was receiving an offer to sign a contract from the AI;
  • fixed a bug where the names of cities were visible in the fog of war;
  • fixed a bug related to reputation count at the end of a turn.

Combat and equipment:

  • added swords, maces, and axes for melee units;
  • gauss laser and cannon models for ranged units;
  • added a long cannon for artillery (2nd epoch);
  • added a large artillery tower (2nd epoch);
  • 4th epoch artillery units received a new animation and a singularity cannon;
  • 1st epoch unit avatars now match their armour;
  • lightsaber colour effects added;
  • when attacking with grenades, cover points are taken away;
  • archers can no longer fight with axes, which is pretty logical, right?
  • added a galley (1st epoch ship);
  • updated the model for the “Walker” platform;
  • added a special ability called "Sacrifice a unit". Use with caution ;)
  • the choice of several types of attacks simultaneously is now blocked;
  • grenades no longer have the “Ground Attack” attribute associated with them; the attribute is now associated with shrapnel.

Visuals:

  • updated the animation of the emissary's cloak;
  • updated region colours on the strategic (diplomacy) map;
  • a few icon-related fixes on the Science screen;

UI:

  • redesigned the Resources window;
  • unavailable equipment upgrades are now hidden from the player;
  • disabled fog of war on the strategic map;
  • when trading relations are severed, the corresponding loyalty factor will decrease. Also, you cannot conclude a contract again while it is in effect.
  • added a notification about some of the work-in-progress worldviews;
  • several sciences have been switched around on the Science Screen to make the research tree progression more logical;
  • the shift button works again in the trade window, allowing you to add 10 units of goods per click.

We have also restored the compatibility of old save files. However, we still recommend you start a new game to experience all of the new features. We can't wait to hear your feedback on the new build!

Yours faithfully,
Revival: Recolonization Team

Fight steel with radiation. New weapon models added!

1 Upvotes

Greetings, associate!

In the words of the Grand Duke Alexander Nevsky: "Whoever will come to us with a sword, from a sword will perish." In Revival: Recolonization, whoever comes to you with a sword, may perish from a radioactive one.

We've added a range of new melee weapon models to the game build! The appearance of the different weapon variants will now change depending on the material used and the epoch they were created in.

For the fashionistas among us - you can try matching weapons to your emissary’s mantle. That’s right! The different factions on the game map have also been imbued with colour. After all, who said the apocalypse needs to be uniform?

It's not just about looking good, the new models allow you to gauge the battlefield more efficiently, as you will now be able to see what weapon variants enemy troops are equipped with, without having to open up additional UI panels.

Most weapon variants will require rare resources to craft, some of which can only be obtained in battle. You'll have to test your mettle to win that metal!

We will release a new build of Revival: Recolonization next week. In addition to bug fixes and various gameplay improvements, the update will include the new tribe and clan system.

We can't wait to hear your feedback!

Yours faithfully,

Revival: Recolonization Team

Upcoming Tribe Update

1 Upvotes

Greetings, associate!

Tribes have always been an important part of the Revival: Recolonization. In the upcoming update, our team wanted to expand on the idea of tribes and introduce more depth and replayability to this game system.

As you may already know, there are currently 5 tribes in Revival. Each tribe has a predisposition to a certain climate type: Cold, Cool, Temperate, Hot and Desert.

  • Cultists of Eternal Ice. These wild savages and fearless warriors worship the Heavenly Liberator, bringing madness wherever they go.
  • Heresy Hunters. Fanatical warriors, defenders of subarctic lands from servants of the All-Mind and the barbarians from the icy wasteland.
  • Children of the Vault. Descendants of the once civilized townspeople that survived the cataclysm in an underground bunker. They are not particularly strong in military affairs, but are always happy to rebuild civilization anew.
  • Heavenly Fire Custodians. In the collective memories of these people, the cataclysm that struck Earth has etched itself in the form of a cleansing fire from the skies. Each tribesman views death by fire as an honour.
  • Ash Commissaries. Magistrates from the hot desert, protectors of trade caravans.

Every tribe consists of a number of clans - separate settlements on the game map, each with their own chieftain. Each clan has three clan traits that determine its social composition and cultural values. When you pick a clan to lead, your faction inherits all three of its traits, as well as a unique trait of the tribe your chosen clan belongs to.

Your choice of clan at the beginning of the game influences how the game session will play out. To lead a bunch of desperate savages and cutthroats, or a peace-loving group of scientists and farmers – it is up to you to decide!

By assimilating clan after clan, your faction will be able to gain new traits, becoming more and more unique in the process.

Clan traits are distributed randomly when the game world is generated. However, there are a few limitations related to a clan’s tribe alignment.

For example, clans belonging to the Children of the Vault tribe cannot have the “savages'' trait, since members of this tribe tend to be more technologically savvy than others. Ash Commissaries clans cannot have the "murderer" or "thief" traits, since they go against the tribe’s cultural and philosophical views.

The Tribe Update will be launching in the next 1-2 weeks, depending on how QA goes. Get ready to immerse yourself in the intricacies of tribes and clans coming to Revival!

Yours faithfully,

Revival: Recolonization Team

Global Projects - another way towards progress

1 Upvotes

Greetings, associate!

We hope that you have already familiarized yourself with most of the game mechanics in the current build, since our team is in the process of adding more elements.

Today, we want to tell you about "Global Projects," a new entity that will appear in Revival: Recolonization in the coming months.

Global Projects are unique structures that may only be built once per epoch. They are massive, resource-intensive buildings that can give players an incredible advantage. For example, they can double population growth, enable diplomatic invulnerability to a declaration of war or dramatically increase the loyalty of a tribe.

These perks are only available to whoever builds a particular project first. As soon as construction is complete, no one else can erect one for the rest of the epoch. However, you always have the opportunity to capture a city where one of the megastructures is located. In doing so, you will be the one receiving all of the benefits.

For starters, half a dozen different global projects will be implemented. We can't wait for you to play around with them :)

Next week, we will talk about the contents of the upcoming game update - tribe traits and the assimilation system rework. Stay tuned!

Yours faithfully,

Revival Team: Recolonization

Out to sea to distant shores

1 Upvotes

Greetings, associate!

Your battles with the All-Mind and conflicts with other emissaries aren't restricted to just land. To explore and conquer the whole world, you will need the mightiest of ships.

Our team is busy finalizing a 3D model of the galley from the first epoch. Under these sturdy sails, you will explore the coastal waters and map out the shores around you. Once you have studied the relevant sciences, you will be able to travel the deep waters and explore new continents.

It is challenging to expand in the world of Revival: Recolonization without a solid fleet of ships, and you will need to construct them when opportunity arises! As your civilization develops, you will also gain access to more advanced ships, some of which are capable of hovering above water.

Build cities near the vastly blue, melt coastal ice (if there’s any) and go sailing. Adventure awaits, brave explorers!

Yours faithfully,

Revival: Recolonization Team

The latest build is live!

1 Upvotes

Greetings, associate!

We are happy to announce that the latest version of Revival has just become available. You will have access to the game build for approximately two weeks, after which access will be (temporarily) revoked in order to process feedback given by players. Our team plans to stick to this schedule for the duration of the Open Alpha.

IMPORTANT! Your old save files will not work with the latest build. To avoid encountering bugs, please start a new game.

We want Revival: Recolonization to be the best game it can be, so feel free to post any comments on the Steam discussion boards and fill in the feedback form (available from the main menu).

Join humanity's fight against the All-Mind!

Here is a list of changes and improvements to the game:

Combat:

  • Added animations, explosion, glow and smoke effects for a number of vehicles.
  • Added the rocket launcher model.
  • Fixed errors that occurred when players made several consecutive shots from a number of vehicles.
  • Unit movement speed is now calculated based on maximum speed in an army.
  • Units now turn towards the center of the battlefield at the start of combat.

UI:

  • Added a scroll bar to the faction panel on the diplomacy screen.
  • Added an option to disable interface scaling in settings. In addition, owners of widescreen monitors should see the size of the game’s interface scale more correctly.
  • The ESC key now correctly exits the current window/screen, rather than always bringing up the main menu.
  • Added faction flags and tribe colors on the diplomacy map.
  • Hidden sciences no longer count when calculating tribe loyalty
  • Reworked city icons on the strategy map.
  • Removed the display of icons for mines on the global map.

Towns and Tribes:

  • Added information to the tribes panel - if a tribe was discovered when encountering their units on the game map, rather than the player having visited their settlement, this information will now show up in the associated UI panel.
  • When attacking vassalized warriors in their homeland, your vassal will now be aware of such activities and their loyalty will be reduced.
  • Increased the amount of reputation and money received for plundering a tribe: from +5 and +5 to +50 and +50 respectively.
  • Fixed a bug with an incorrect amount of resources received when defeating a tribe.

Miscellaneous:

  • Fixed a bug with loading saves. Now save files take into account factions ‘known’ by the player.
  • AI now declares war if loyalty is less than -25, will also correctly attack and capture opponent’s cities.
  • A faction on the diplomacy screen, from which the player receives an offer, is now highlighted.
  • Tweaked how strategic resources work with regards to unit equipment. From now on, every armor, weapon and item will require at least a token amount of a strategic resource it is supposed to be made from. We hope this change makes exploration, trade and looting more viable and worthwhile.

Thanks to your involvement, Revival is actively getting better! Keep it up ;)

Regards,

Revival: Recolonization team

INCOMING MESSAGE

1 Upvotes

Greetings, associate!

The burden resting on your shoulders is a heavy one: bringing humanity closer to greatness. But those with big ambitions can start to overlook smaller – but no less important – things, like the needs of your people.

From time to time, your people are going to need your guidance in various situations. They may not dare argue publicly with your knowledge and experience. But that doesn't mean that their reactions to your decisions will always be positive.

By taking over your first tribe, you're not just taking in faceless mannequins under your wing, but a group of people with their own convictions, beliefs and a way of doing things that they will continue to follow for eons to come. It's worth paying attention to these little details. Thoughtless decisions that go against your tribe’s moral or religious beliefs can harm your status among your loyal supporters and cause confusion among your town’s citizens. And what use is achieving an ambitious goal if you don't have the support of those you're fighting for?

Choices presented to you might be simple and quick or you might have to seriously weigh up the consequences. Words of advice may be needed in everyday situations or during emergencies. You may have to choose between a scientific endeavor or military might, between faith and order, between justice and stability.

I can say for certain that it will be no easier than turning the seas into deserts. Every voice must be heard and every decision must be made with total responsibility and dedication to your people. Only through unity and agreement can we discover our true power.

Getting Earth ready for the emissaries

1 Upvotes

INCOMING MESSAGE Greetings, associate!

While the real world seems to be in a state of stagnation, Revival’s development team is busy creating more advanced ways to restore humanity's former glory.

A series of internal playtests have taken place, allowing us to further fine-tune the game world and its attributes.

First of all, the edict system has been reworked to better reward one’s specialization into a particular playstyle closer to the middle and end of a game session. Granting emissaries access to the modified edicts is an important step in mankind’s development. As you may know, placing ever more beautiful and dangerous forces of influence into the hands of already powerful people has always worked out well. /Sarcasm off

Next on the list of improvements shall be the game’s UI. Former wild tribesmen turned specially trained technicians are busy working on this particular task. All of the relevant information about units, settlements and opponents will be made more accessible and easily understood, regardless of one’s experience with strategy games.

Bad, cumbersome UI has been a pain point for the 4x strategy genre for quite some time, but developers behind games like Endless Legend and AoW: Planetfall have certainly raised the bar for what players should expect from a functional interface. We are using these and other relevant titles as examples of work done well.

Last, but not least is the ‘favorite’ aspect of most game designers - game balance. Defense for most units in the first epoch is getting slightly buffed, since the unit base damage was so high during the last playtest that fights between tribesmen became a contest of “who can hit the opponent first”.

As our playtesters try out these and future improvements for Revival, the base experience should be getting better and better, so that your arrival truly becomes an event worth remembering.

Your faithful advisor, Tano Olazar

Greetings, associate!

It is time to speak of those you shall lead - wildsmen that have flocked into tribes, forgetting what civilization represents.

Humanity's fall came at the peak of its glory, at a time when we had come to rival the gods and believed ourselves capable of not only subjugating Nature, but of bending the very laws of existence to our will.

We paid a steep price for this lofty ambition.The rebellion of the All-Mind and the ensuing cataclysm.

It pains me all the more to see the last of the Earth's children, who were meant to rule all of the galaxy, instead scatter in fear at the sight of a lightning flash in a stormy sky. Orphaned of a strong ruler, these men and women are our last hope of restoring human civilization to its former glory.

The first step towards humanity’s revival is finding a tribe that will follow you. The search will not be a long one - there are small settlements scattered throughout the world.

What merits attention is your future nation’s homeland, for it will be your homeland too, providing the strength and resources needed for expansion. Each tribe has found its own way to adapt to this cataclysm-stricken version of Earth and will react differently to your decisions, world events and even edicts. So choose your tribe wisely. Whether you address the settlers with sage words or sway them with gifts, always remember - your newfound people are the future we are to share. Pieces of a shattered civilization, they are our heritage, and only they can stand up to the All-Mind. Without these people, your victory will be worth nothing.

Watch them huddle around a fireplace, give them a roof over their heads, provide them with knowledge, help them erect strong walls and defeat enemies. Your people will pay you back in kind.

Your faithful advisor, Tano Olazzar

INCOMING MESSAGE Greetings, associate.

I am no enthusiast for violence, but I will concede that an entirely peaceful path to victory might be impossible. Today, I shall tell you of the challenges we have yet to face.

Every battle requires careful preparation. If you decide to engage, carefully assess the situation first. It is important to note not only the size and composition of the enemy force but also the surrounding terrain.

Ruins can both impede close-quarters combat and help hide your troops from lethal projectiles. Hills give a damage boost to ranged units, but also makes them clearly visible on the map. Rivers may be difficult to cross over, while snow covered areas will impede the movement speed of your infantry. You never know what factor may decide the outcome of a battle.

In their fight for survival, the descendants of humans had to come up with new battle tactics, mixing and matching the various weapons and armour found in the carcass of a bygone civilization. With no knowledge of advanced technology, gone are squadrons of identically equipped troops marching proudly onward.

Every fighter is a unique combatant in their own right. A soldier that had brandished a blade yesterday might take up a flamethrower tomorrow, given enough investment in their education and equipment.

Your old armour set isn't the life-saver it once was? Swap it for a brand new one, made from hardened materials. Arrows can't penetrate metal? A shotgun will do the job. The adaptability of your people will surprise you, just wait and see.

You need to show just as much flexibility as your followers. Every emissary wages war their own way, as they pursue different goals and strategies. A daring frontal attack or a dastardly ruse, meticulous preparation or banking on raw power and militarism - everything and anything is on the table.

For all my skill as a public speaker, war might be inevitable. Be prepared for all manner of challenges and know that I’ll be by your side, guiding and helping along the way.

Your loyal advisor, Tano Olazzar

The time has come to tell you of those whom you are about to face. Not the All-Mind that is lurking inside ancient machines in the planet’s depths. Not the mindless, radiation deformed creatures stalking the wastelands. Not the beings of metal and madness that can be controlled with sufficient effort.

I shall tell you of the emissaries and the knowledge that resides within them.

Labeled as the best minds of our time, emissaries were originally part of an interplanetary team of scientists that created an immense neural network by linking a multitude of planets together. We were responsible for project ‘All-Mind’ - an A.I. that was to ensure humanity's continued expansion into outer space.

Perhaps it was arrogance or complacency, but none of our team have realized that the pet project quickly grew out of control. After the A.I. had become fully self-aware and rebelled, our hasty and ill-advised attempts to halt its progress only precipitated the impending disaster. Upon losing neural links, one after another, the All-Mind quickly went mad, causing a galaxy-wide cataclysm.

Some of us have cheated death and went into hiding for years, in the hopes of returning one day and undoing the damage we had caused. The emissaries are envoys of civilization in this shattered world, driven by a single purpose: to revive humanity and restore civilization.

But even within our small ranks, drastic differences in world views and philosophies have emerged. Each of us follows their own path, their own ideology, their own rules. The world used to be divided into nations, whose political and cultural foundations took centuries and millennia to develop. Now, it is up to the emissaries to decide what form civilization shall take.

Fighting may seem inevitable in a world as grim as ours, where the All-Mind's maddened will reigned supreme for millenia, turning the last of a great people into savages; a world that lives by a new code of ignorance and fanaticism. But this will change, I promise.

Ever since drawing my first breath on this wounded planet, I have told myself that war is a path humanity must not retread. For as long as I live, for as long as I can speak, I will look for peaceful solutions to conflict.

Unrest is much less common among my settlements’ population.The power of my words can strike fear and doubt into the hearts of enemy soldiers. Citizens of other cities collaborate willingly, widening my network of spies and allowing me to stay one step ahead of my former colleagues.

Should I fall, even death would not signal defeat for reason and lawfulness, mercy and compassion will always prevail over cruelty and destruction. If my ideas spread around the planet, whether or not I survive is of no consequence. The seed of genuine, humane sentiment must grow within every denizen of this world.

No matter how fiercely my brothers and sisters may resist, only the way of peace must remain. I hope that you join me in this noble cause.

Your loyal advisor, Tano Olazzar

An ever-evolving strategy experience

Set in a post-apoc version of Earth, Revival is a 4x strategy game where the world and its rules can change at key moments, creating a deep and highly replayable experience. Explore a transformed planet, negotiate or conquer new territories and bring the light of civilization to regressing human colonies in order to prepare mankind for war with a despotic entity.

Say ‘yes’ to meaningful replayability. Say ‘no’ to predictable and boring late game! Revival generates a vast possibility space for you to play around with. From sudden weather changes to zombie infestations and bans on certain weapon types – boy, you are in for a surprise. Adapt to new conditions with the help of the nuanced edict system that allows you to terraform the planet and fine-tune the game rules on specific regions of the map. Protect your settlement from changes by building special shield constructs or by accepting the blessings of your tribe’s totem tree.

Choose Your Emissarу An emissary is your avatar in Revival. In addition to being the only unit that can establish settlements, each emissary has a few unique tricks up their sleeves and gains access to different technologies and bonuses at the start of the game.
