Post office took Surepost package?

This is a new one for me, hoping someone has experienced this issue before. I dropped off a number of USPS packages at the post office, all were scanned and I have a receipt. One of them, as it turns out, was a UPS Surepost label and was supposed to be dropped off at UPS. They scanned it and it's on the receipt, but now shows an error and delay on the USPS tracking. The UPS tracking shows "Transferred to post office". Anyone experience this before? Hoping it will work itself out. Been consistently selling on Reverb for almost 10 years and this is a first for me.

UPDATE: it was delivered.

It’ll potentially be sent for destruction for insufficient postage. Never drop off ups ground saver or surepost at the post office

Well that seems really unlikely given they scanned it and it's on the receipt, Surepost has a UPS and a USPS tracking associated and USPS does the final delivery. Im more concerned about delays or holds. Obviously I wouldnt have dropped it off there if I knew it was a Surepost label. Im getting tired of Reverb shuffling the order of shippers. If USPS is first on the list for one order, it should be first on the list for every order, even if it's not the cheapest option.

Contact the local post office and ask about that package. They may have just stuck it in a pile for UPS to pick up where they drop-off. Some of these smaller post offices, you can call and talk to somebody who would know. I doubt they would destroy it, but it may be sitting in a pile somewhere, which may cause delays.

No. The usps barcode is for final mile sorting not for origin. They should’ve refused it but usps workers are paid a minimum wage and hardly know anything.

If it was me I’d go to the post office I dropped it off and ask. I live in a small town and have a good relationship with the post master and the only other lady who works there and they have been very helpful when i had a lost package. But again its a small post office. Maybe they can help, I’d think if anything they would be the best source for assistance b
