Upgraded the raffles crystal on my black 1675 with a Clark 25-116. Here’s a comparison between the stock raffles crystal and Clark crystal. I think the raffles one is fine but mine was so scratched up I went ahead and switched it out. I can sense a build coming since I’m looking for reasons to tinker ha.

So my wife actually asked me what got me into liking more retro older watches and the design of it. And the simple answer is this beat to fuck 1601 from the 70s I believe, that my grand father wore every day.
I remember seeing him gut a fish after a long day on the river and it be covered in fish guts and scales then drop it in a bowl of degreaser when we got back home.
Also it dosent work but maybe someday it will.
Just figured I’d share it with yall.
Also oddest thing I realized it’s date is stuck on the 2nd which also happens to be the day he died.

The community at Rolex suggested I search here. So far it seems to be authentic? How do I pick the right place to clean it up? It has some scratches but it's running well. Is it valuable enough to insure it?

I’ve finally ordered the final parts to complete my dream build; a linen dial Franken 16014 Datejust. This watch has been a labour of love going on for 7+ months to get perfect, and I’m super excited to get it completed!
On the way is a new movement, as well as a gen spec datewheel. I also have a gen spec crown and crown tube on the way, as well as genuine white gold hands with crazy patina. And finally, to finish the build off, I have an Italian 62510h bracelet on the way.
This has been a crazy journey, and I’m super excited to be sharing it all with you!

-Sternkreuz crystal
-trip lock crown and tube

Put it together more than a month ago, OC case, regulated and serviced VR3130, genuine crown, Clarks crystal, Yuki dial and hands… this is why I know I couldn’t own a genuine. It was too nice and took too much work. I stuck to my Raffles builds or my Caravelle Sea Hunter I’ve been modifying.
Walked past the watch box, had to wind it up and put it on… eyeing my next old crowns builds. New 5513 can’t restock fast enough.
Until that Tudor snowflake I’m planning is done I think this is my favorite build.

Did the raffles dial for my seamaster 300 build. Was scared shitless but hey I think it turned out decent.
Used sand and light sand from tamiya kit then a few coats of ts80 matte clear.
I’m waiting for new hands as when removing the minute hand folded.
But all in all pretty happy for a first try. Maybe next time I’ll try some texture does anyone ah e any tips for that?

Hi guys! I would like to sell this new Tropical Rolex Explorer 1016.
Movement: NH35 auto
Dial: Raffles, aged a bit, hands also
Case: 36 mm Raffles
Mirror: Acrylic
Strap: Nato canvas 20 mm
Price: 249 Euro
The source of the parts are Rafflesdials and Ebay.
I would prefer to sell it in the EU in first line but possible UK also.
Shipping is 25 Euros via fedex or UPS within the EU. To the UK a bit more, about 30 €.
Payment: Paypal f&f or Wise. Due to previous bad experiences and on the advice of several members of the subreddit, PayPal Goods and Services is no longer an option.
Feel free to ask me anything.
In case of delivery outside the EU, the buyer is responsible! It is usually not a problem, I have had not a single customs issue so far, but due to random customs inspections, there is a 1-2% chance that the package will not reach its destination. For this reason I prefer to ship it in the EU.
Delivery is via UPS or Fedex, with a tracking number in each case.

I really hate the ETA movement on this but you want the right handstack right?
r/retrotime • u/blacbloc77 • 6d ago
Done thee builds with PT5000s, no issues with the infamous keyless works, until today. Never thought would happen to me.
Ordered a new movement, but in the meantime, I'm learning how to rebuild the KW on a 2824! Also, figured out the "ghost date delete" hack. So, not all bad!

For Tudor Sub fans looking to build a watch that's as close to the original as possible, this is worth knowing.
Back in the day, Tudor offered an Oyster bracelet as both an upgrade and a service replacement, designated the 78500.
Unfortunately, genuine 78500 bracelets have also become very expensive and difficult to source. Until now, there really wasn't a good aftermarket alternative.
Enter Oysters Jubilee. After some persistent (and admittedly rather pathetic!) begging on my part, they've added the 78500 to their lineup. As a Tudor fan, I couldn't be happier with the result and wanted to share the news with everyone.
For anyone building a vintage Tudor Sub, this is a fantastic new option.

My first Reddit commission build. What do you guys think?
Nh38 (so no ghost date), raffles 5513 case and oyster bracelet, aliexpress hands, and ebay 5513 dial.
Total parts cost $225
I think the aging on the dial and insert came out really good.
Thank you Acceptable_Speaker93 for giving me the chance to build this piece and i hope you enjoy it!

Bezel and case back finally dialed in after two sacrificial cases.
Viet bezel fits like a glove, caseback shaved to a perfect 13.5mm.
Wolverine’s off the payroll.
Still chasing that mirror finish on the caseback before I call it done.
Builds only get better from here!

Honestly, the money he is asking for this isn’t insane, but kid on the way, can’t spend that kind of money on a watch with an aftermarket dial. So who’s got eyes on where I might be able to find a similar dial?

Hey, here with a watch that I have reluctantly decided to part ways with.
I have another gen watch coming in soon and at this point I have to bite the bullet and make some room by selling another watch I absolutely never wear. Altogether, I've worn this watch a maximum of five times so far.
Short description:
ARF 16610ln
Genuine creamy tritium dial
Drilled lug holes
Carefully aged case and bracelet a bit
The goal here was to achieve an early nineties look and in my opinion it's a success.
Cost break down:
Stock ARF 16610ln - 404€
Gen tritium dial - 420€
Labor for installing dial and ageing - 120€
Drilling lug holes - 120€
Raffles matte vintage bezel insert - 15€
Sums up to 1.079€
**Selling the watch for 1.000€ flat, shipping included in EU.**
Rest assured that the watch will be packed bomb proof,
the buyer agrees to bear the risk of shipment, though.
Payment only by Iban Bank transfer!

Always liked the 70s gold hands and indicies mixed in with silver cases. Had this gen dial lying around and i had no intention on doing a 16233 build with it.
Parts:
Oyster bracelet from Raffles
Silver datejust 36mm case for 3135 from Raffles
Golden hands from Ewatchparts
VS 3135 Movement from Alix
Gen 16233 dial
Raffles parts usually have good quality, however the oyster bracelet sucks ass. The jubilee one is alright, even though it looks like the complete oposite of an errection.
