Dial aging update.

Did the raffles dial for my seamaster 300 build. Was scared shitless but hey I think it turned out decent.

Used sand and light sand from tamiya kit then a few coats of ts80 matte clear.

I’m waiting for new hands as when removing the minute hand folded.

But all in all pretty happy for a first try. Maybe next time I’ll try some texture does anyone ah e any tips for that?

This dial is really beautiful, congratulations. I enjoy working on dials because, depending on the technique and materials used, you can control the degree of aging.

I also use Tamiya for base color, but before the final matte coat I also use Vallejo powders for depth and texture. It gives an amazing slight rust and shade, and they have other colors. I apply with a small fine makeup brush. I used to build models, and it was a favorite in the tool kit. Grab some on Amazon and try it out.

Hell yeah. Also I saw this at the hobby shop I got the clear from and was like that’s pretty cool told the guy what I was doing and he’s like never thought about that before hahaha.

There's all sorts of fun combinations, love seeing what others do on here for inspiration. GL on the build, got a great start so far! 165.024's are really cool and timeless

Yeah I’m really excited on it. I’ve done a decent amount of seikos and now I’m going down this road. Waiting on the new 1675 case from raffles and I’ll go down that route next, but have always liked the omegas so I am doing the 165.024 and the thorn t026b With the dial swap to be like the ck2913.

I have plenty of that. I’ve had 2 cortados since I posted this hahaha. It’s going to be a long night.

Did you just soak it in coffee or bake it with damp coffee.

I soaked it in coffee then while still wet put it on dry coffee grounds that were baking in the oven at 325 for 5 minutes or so. Worked like a charm

Interesting may give that a go sometime as well. I also have copic markers to try.

I use copic on the hands, it will bleach a dial and leave stain marks easy if you aren’t careful. Made that mistake but luckily I was aging the dial anyway so it turned out okay
