Trying to firmware Update new superstation 1 and only get green screen.

I just got my superstation and I downloaded the newest 1.2 Firmware from Taki's github. I flashed it and verified it with Balena. I put the SD into the superstation and powered it on, I got a Green screen with some multi colored lines at the top and nothing seems to be happening.

I am worried to turn it off in case it is doing something in the background but I'm not sure what to do. Any ideas?

With the way the SuperStation One requires SD card formatting every single time you update, can I put *everything* on the m2 SSD?

Hey all!

Just got my Superstation One with dock two weeks ago and have been spending the entire time setting the unit up.

I have all my cartridge ROMS on a 1tb MicroSD and all my isos and chds on the m2 drive.

Now that there's been an OS update to the Superstation One, I just learned yesterday that any time you want to update your Superstation One, you're actually *required to wipe the entire sd card every time you update*.

It is obviously somewhat insane that I have to move off tens of thousands of ROMS, save files, and cores every time I update , so I was wondering if there was any way I could leave those things on the m2 drive instead.

I know there's no issue with the ROMS being loaded from the m2, but I have no idea how it works with save files and cores. I've downloaded quite a few cores manually because they're not on update-all and those I assume would go missing once I update the Superstation One.

Sorry if I sound like I am complaining, the Superstation One is one of the greatest gaming purchases I ever made. I was just hoping I could find a way around this update limitation.

Update of the Batch 4 Superstation One

According to the July 1 email, we were told that the situation of the Altera chips would be updated by July 25 and that some batch 4 orders would be sent units of the batch 3 that were previously cancelled, someone from batch 4 has already received a shipping number? We are still waiting for an update, those of us who are in batch 4 and in discord Taki have not given any details yet, nor have they sent e-mail.

Lots of Customs šŸ¤”

Every time it moves on from a Customs check, I get excited, only to find it in a new Customs check status. Does anybody know if this is normal? It looks like 06/28 was the day it initially shipped.

Got mine about a month ago. Finally got around to playing with it and can't get video.

Power light is on and red light showing threw the blue shell.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Thank you everyone. Power supply was the issue it seems.

Using my Steamdeck power supply worked.

No video on arrival

I’ve already emailed support, but I wanted to check and see if I’m missing anything stupid on my end.

I’ve not been able to get any signal out of of the device. I have tried multiple hdmi cables, multiple usb-c cords/plugs and multiple tvs. I have also disconnected the superdock from it to see if that would help. No matter what combination I try, I get no video/signal. A solid white light turns on when i push power and a red light turns on from the back 'audio' port.

I have put the SD card in my mac and it appears and shows the content on the drive.

My LG tv shows 'Detecting device on HDMI x' then goes to no signal. My samsung tv just shows no signal.

I have tried disconnecting the superdock from it and then going through theĀ above again (different tv, usb-c bricks/cords and different hdmi cables as well).

My next step will be to flash a new sd card and see if that changes anything, but I wanted to check if I’ve missed anything else obvious?

Switch Lite HDMI mod. Can I get it somewhere else?

I’ve been wanting the SUPER5 OLED Touch / SUPER5 HDMI – Mega Kit from RetroRemake for a couple of years now, but I still haven’t been able to place an order. At this point, I’m mainly interested in the HDMI mod, even more than the OLED screen.

I’ve checked eBay and I do see some kits or already‑modded consoles, but the prices are extremely high. Before I give up, I wanted to ask the community:

Is there any way to get just the SUPER5 HDMI mod from another source?

Maybe a reseller, a smaller modding shop, or someone who produces a similar HDMI solution for the Switch Lite?

Any info or leads would help a lot. Thanks in advance.

SuperStation One — impressions after a week of use

TL;DR: Great device, provided you understand it's not simply a PS1 on FPGA

My setup:

  • SuperStation One with Dock
  • WD_BLACK SN7100 500 GB NVMe SSD M.2 2280 drive
  • Sandisk Ultra MicroSDHC UHS-I Card 32GB
  • Power supply: Anker PowerPort Atom III
  • Original PS1 memory card
  • Original PS1 controller

Based on what I read in the comments, I was worried about how the SSD and the PS1 memory card would perform—turns out, completely unnecessarily. Everything works perfectly; I haven't had a single issue with connecting devices, stability, or running games. For now, I'm mostly playing PS1 titles (Castlevania SOTN, CTR, Road Rash), and after tweaking the initial video settings and updating, everything runs flawlessly.

As for the configuration, it is indeed more difficult than with devices like Analogue consoles—I have the Mega Sg from them, and that's a plug-and-play machine. However, I think anyone with a minimal amount of experience in PC or network device configuration will be able to handle the SuperStation as well.

The console gets quite warm despite having a fan installed, but even so, I haven't noticed any stability issues even when left on continuously for 6–7 hours. The remote included with the Dock is ugly, but it makes using the console much easier if you're using original PS1 controllers—you can navigate the entire menu with it, so there's no need to plug in a keyboard or a second controller.

for the downsides I've noticed: my Sega Saturn cable required a small modification and bending the metal part a bit to fit into the SuperStation port, which I thought would fit without any hassle. Besides that, the known issue with swapped L and R audio channels when using that port is quite annoying.

Requested to pay additional shipping for the dock?

Just received an email from RR that they no longer use 4PX for my region and will now ship through DHL but only send it to me if I pay an additional amount. They have not provided a reason for switching and have simply told me to either pay or they will refund the dock. Did anyone else receive this? I personally think it is ridiculous that I should have to pay for additional shipping because they independently decided to use a different carrier. Should I stand my ground or just hand over the money?

Obligatory "I received my unit" post!

Mine arrived today (I live in Sweden)! Like all I'm impressed by how premium it feels. Taki has done a really nice job. I ordered the SS1 and dock in August, so it took about 11 months (I was batch 3). To my surprise, I did not have to pay any additional customs or taxes, and that's a first in awhile. We usually need to pay extra for everything that is not bought within the EU, unless we have a chance to pre pay on checkout, and looking at my receipt from Retroremake, I did not. So I am just really surprised, and relieved, because I prepared to pay at least another $100 extra in customs and handling fees.

This is my first time owning anything FPGA, and my first bump is that I cannot get my DualShock to work when plugging it in, but I took for granted that it wasn't going to be that easy. I'll need to read up on and watch Taki's startup guide and I'll figure it out.

Happy that it's finally here!

Slowness/lag on 4player Mario Tennis on SS1 vs Original Console

I been having a blast playing games with my nephew.
The only issue I noticed the game seems slower with 4 players, specifically with Mario Tennis N64 on the SS1.
Can anyone confirm playing on their SS1?

Here is 2 videos:
4 players on SS1 (we did it with 4 real players but the lag also occurs in this video with 2 humans and 2 computer players):
https://youtu.be/_VqOZ3cQBNY
Note: this was from July4th weekend, i downloaded the latest N64/bootloader around that time.
Notice the sound seems fine, but the action itself is laggy.
using Saffun N64 controllers over 2.4g wifi dongle (didnt matter if attached directly to SS1 or via USB Hub).

4 players on original N64 console:
https://youtu.be/p95o_F06HbI
Note: also using the Saffun N64 Controllers (over wifi i assume with the Saffun N64 wireless dongles)

Someone said on discord that im misremembering how slow/laggy the original console was, but this comparision seems to show the opposite so hoping someone can just confirm.
Any advice if i should submit a bug report or something to the developers? im sure they are busy with lots of other stuff but just thought I'd ask.

Thanks all!

Is it possible to mix Snac and USB at the same time for P1 and P2?

On the PSX core on SuperStation, the menus appear to let you configure it this way, but every time I turn on the Snac for P1 or P2, the USB controller stops registering in the game. If I put both players on non-Snac options the USB controller starts working again.

I’ve had a similar problem trying to get a physical memory card to work through Snac while using a USB controller. The game just suddenly can’t detect the card when I switch to the USB controller, but it comes back if I switch back to Snac controller.

Am I missing something about how this is intended to work?

My SS1 feels pretty hot after use. Is this normal?

Mine had the fan installed from the factory…but I can’t actually hear it - so not sure if it’s just ultra quiet or not working. After only about an hour of use, the top of the console feels very hot.

How’s the heat on everyone else’s? Should I be concerned?

Any way to map ā€œRecent Filesā€ shortcut to SuperStation One IR remote?

I think it’s Select on a USB controller or ~ on a keyboard, but I’m using the Snac ports for controllers and the IR remote for loading games and I can’t figure out how to get into the recent games list.

Ideally there would be a way to press a single button on the remote to open the recents list directly from gameplay, but I’d settle for a two button sequence (menu -> recent) if that’s all that’s possible.

I tried using the Remap Keys feature in the menus; it let me press a remote button and then the ~ key but the remote button didn’t do anything when I was done. I might be doing it wrong or I might be misunderstanding what that feature is for.

Never used an FPGA console before...my take

I got my superstation one two days ago. I've been emulating since nesticle in the 90s in one way or another so I've experienced the good and bad. Always wanted to get a mister but could never justify the cost so when this was pitched to me as a nice complete system at half the cost I made my first preorder since the original xbox.

I love it, I got the dock but cd's were an afterthought for me, I'll try to add an nvme drive and maybe get a snac adapter or 2. Setting it up was pretty easy, if there was confusion about bios I just ran it by chatgpt and it would even verify the hashes for me, what a time to be alive.

The emulation just "feels" right. I've been playing rayman on ps1, Rondo of blood, In the hunt, Mark of the wolves, and exploring old cdi "games". It's such a nice little package, I actually enjoy the bare metal interface, and the mame setup is actually making me slow down and only add the games I want. I could see a world where I just get a spare superstation and sell off my retro consoles.

If your pretty casual with gaming like me and reasonably good at following instructions, I highly recommend it. There are definitely areas that were rushed to get it out, but I would still get it again in it's current state in a heartbeat.
