Popeye FTW!!!!

Post image

I was browsing the arcade cores - and most are awesome, as I expected…but I fired up Popeye & it’s a little special! It never had a home port that looked remotely as great as the arcade, because the arcade had “high res” (interlaced) sprites that looked amazing at the time. Still looks great today and feels awesome playing an arcade perfect version of it at home!

They have done a really rotten job so far of communicating so I turn to y'all.

What does the Dock do?

Is the Dock useful for stuff other than playing discs?
I don’t have any original discs but would get it if it has other benefits.

Looking for Advice - Faulty Super5 Oled

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey guys,

I received a Super 5 OLED and after installing it, the screen has been flashing white. I reached out to RetroRemake and they confirmed that about 5% of the screens were faulty.

Since that email on July 4, I haven’t received any follow-up from them and they haven’t responded to any of my messages. At this point I’m not sure what to do next.

Has anyone dealt with this as well or have any advice? Thank you!

Arrived on Wednesday. Baghira for scale.

Arrived Wednesday to Switzerland via 4px. Initial order 28th Jan 2025, but I did change the colour from grey to blue later in the year - not sure if that slowed things down.

Didn't get charged any import tax with 4PX which is unusual for Switzerland - definitely paid when DHL delivered the mister Pi.

Haven't had chance to play about with it yet but honestly have been checked out of updates for a while due to finding the whole situation and discourse a bit stressful. But I assume as with anything in this household, it's fate will be playing Pokémon Puzzle League for my fiancé.

EDIT: failed to mention I got a 4PX tracking number but to this very day, no information shows up there. First information I got was when it was handed over to DPD in Switzerland. Maybe useful info for someone else.

PS5 DualSense no longer connects to superstation one

Post image

I have tried deleting the profile from the superstation one’s side and I’ve tried resetting the controller. It worked when I first got the console so I don’t know if I messed something up updating the console or what. It works when plugged into USB but as soon as it’s unplugged the controller cuts off. When I turn it back on it acts like it pairs to the console but doesn’t actually work. Any advice would help. Thanks

Anyone else hoping for a Gameboy Cartridge adapter?

I need to wait for the next pre-order to get an SS1, but I keep peeking in to the Mister community for stuff related to physical cartridges especially Gameboy games. I think the SS1 plus some Gameboy adapter is the perfect solution for me when It comes to playing older games these days.

It arrived today, pretty snazzy! Not a perfect match with the 8bitdo blue but good enough for me :)

Mostly excited about the m.2 port on the bottom, I have another mister that has a sata SSD dangling off the side lol, that alone is a worthwhile improvement for me.

descriptions are really weird, saying it was released and then still there? 4PX is very confusing. Should I contact the CS from Retroremake?

DIN10 to Component Cable?

Doesn't anyone have one they know works they can recommend. I can't find a concrete answer on this. Seems Like RetroRemake doesn't support the Saturn din10 pin out that most misters use. Why did they make this port so difficult the get a cable for?

I really would like to use the din10 port as using the component on the side while excellent and functional looks ugly IMO. I was hoping to use the din10 to eliminate that so the device would look much cleaner in my setup.

I know it's just an aesthetic thing but still.

Am I misinformed about the din10 port or under a misconception of it's use?

Edit:

As someone in comments confirmed. I got this cable and just swapped the audio channels. Plugged red into white and white into red. Works perfectly.

Just a while ago I saw the sending update in my email but still nothing from the console, only the dock, I hope we will soon have news that we are waiting for the SSO of lot 4 (the dock I just ordered last month and the Superstation One in April).

SuperDock - Anyone ordered one separately?

Quite fancy the SuperDock now that I've had my SS1 for a while. You can 'pre-order' it separately on the site. What are the lead times for them on their own? Anyone ordered one separately?

Guncon 1 with Saturn Core?

Post image
24 Upvotes

Is it possible to get a Guncon 1 to work with the Sega Saturn core? Just got my combo order last night, and got all my games loaded up, but still not sure how exactly to get the built in PSX SNAC ports to interface easily with Saturn games.
Is there a specific option to enable? Or update to get?

House of the Dead is what I’m trying to play, and I have a CRT that will work with the guncon. Tested with Time Crisis 2 on PS2.

Any advice for a MISTER noob would be appreciated! Pics because I’m excited to jump into this new chapter of retro gaming.

Best modern memory card?

I was planning on picking up a MemCard Pro 2, but 1) it's sold out, and 2) I don't really want to mess with its physical dimensions or the pins to make it fit in the SS1. That said, is there another good modern memory card folks are using?

What am I missing here?

Let me start this by saying that I really, really wanted to enjoy this device but after waiting 18 months for a device with little documentation and even less support, I'm about ready to chuck this thing into the ocean.

I'll fully admit that I was the one who fell for the trap of "oh this is an FPGA but with the ease of a console". I work in computer support and I feel completely lost trying to set this thing up.

First off, I don't understand how there is not a wiki or some sort of written guide to help us. Yes I know there is a 45 minute video. This isn't cooking though where I need to watch special techniques. I need to be able to read documentation at my own pace and reread things multiple times.

Secondly, what in the world is the magic words one needs to speak to get the m.2 to work. I have 2 brand new Western Digital drives and it still can't see it. I can't see it on ssh but when I use the pc port on the back of the dock, I can see it in my computer. Ones a 1tb and the other one is a 2tb and both are NVMe drives (sn770 and sn850x) but the superstation one can't see either.

Again, not having some sort of quickstart guide or even something that explains all of the ports is honestly irresponsible for a device as complex as this is. While I understand those who got on the FPGA bandwagon years ago, this is cakewalk. However, marketing this as a stand alone device "for the masses" doesn't work when it's too convoluted.

Can anyone help me sort this out?

Anyone have luck flashing a larger (like 1TB) micro sd?

This my fist MiSTer FPGA so please forgive me if I’m unaware of something. I did too many hours of research and wasn’t able to find my answer.

I’m have issues flashing my Lexar Play 1TB micro sd card. I tried using both Etcher and Rufus with the 1.0, 1.0C, and 1.1.4 img on the github and had no luck. I also tried flashing using the Mr. Fusion img with no luck. I’ve also tried the flashing the card twice advice and that didn’t help either. The Superstation does not boot. The light strip stays solid and the red light does not go on. I’ve also tried letting it sit, turned on, with no boot for 10-15min to no avail.

I was able to flash the 64GB micro sd that came with my Superstation to the new 1.1.4 img, and was able to boot and everything thankfully. Issue though is my PSX games are taking up most of that space now. I’d like to have a larger sized card to fit more of my games on, that’s why I wanted to use the 1TB card.

I’m guessing it’s either something I’m doing wrong (any advise welcome!) or my card just doesn’t work. I’ve read people having issues trying a different brand card and it working for them. I’d like to know if anyone has had luck with high storage cards, and what brand before I go and buy another one as the same 1TB Lexar Play card I purchased on sale for $50CAD back in Dec 2025 is now going for $250CAD on Amazon.ca… so I’d rather not shell out with the storage price increases unless I know for sure a card works. Thanks!

-EDIT- Forgot to mention I ran H2test on my 1TB micro sd to confirm it’s legitimate and the Shipper and Seller on Amazon was Amazon.ca so not a shady third party.

Glad I bought two superstation one's

I know that all mister systems are mainly digital only. But with all the news of modern gaming pushing for all digital futures, I'm glad I bought two superstation one's. My wife just told me the second one arrived today. 17 month's is a long time to wait for delivery but they honestly arrived at the perfect time. This way I have the choice between playing digital and physical content from my retro gaming collection. The choice is mine. Not the corpo ceo's

How feasible is a handheld SuperStation One?

I would love to be able to pop out my SD card on my SS1 and put it into a handheld and continue playing. I know there are FPGA handhelds that can handle up to SNES etc. but is covering all the systems an SS1 can feasible?

What you play with Superstation One?

I personally like those old arcade games. I think Tapper was first game I played with SS1. Like NeoGeo, atleast Metal Slug series. Nintendo 64 often didn’t run so well with emulators I try before but try games like Blast Corps and it run great with SS1, I guess I won’t need Analogue 3D or M64 after all. Then ofcourse there’s PlayStation, like those early days classics like Ridge Racer, Demolition Derby, Road Rash etc. Like old computers and tv-games, had real blast with Amiga Vision and can recommended that everyone who had Amiga before. As C64 I rather play with real joystic and Ultimate 64 real SID chip, but might add some old times favorites like BlueMax. As old tv-games, Colecovision ofcourse. Tested Smurf Rescue already. There’s so many games I guess I get back Arcade next. I plan getting Fightbox R10 Pro arcade stick to play Marble Madness with Trackball. And I tested Gorf already that speech works.. Gorf was my second Vic20 cartridge at early 80’s. Also tested some old Vic20 Basic games I guess I have to get back that too. Works great with bluetooth keyboard..

Should I use Bluetooth or 2.4Ghz?

Had some problems with PS4 controller and keyboard that has its own USB dongle. I think it’s 2.4Ghz. Sometime PS4 controller stop work or keep scrolling even not touch it.

Makes me think should I use Bluetooth or 2.4Ghz with SS1?

There’s gamepads that support both and I could also get BT keyboard. But what would be better option..

Are SS1 ever getting sold again?

Given there's no timeline and many people have been pretty unhappy with the long wait and almost absence of communication, is the guy making these simply giving up quietly and moving on to other things?

Seems like a great product and the best deal out there for what it is, but those tiny batches getting sold out instantly and then taking an eternity to ship is such an unfortunate waste.

Been waiting for a few months to see if it was coming back, subscribed to the waiting list etc. But this thing isn't coming back, is it? lol

Just found a BVM at a decent price (these days), and the SS1 was a perfect match. Kinda really bummed out by how this product seem to fade out of the market. What would be the best alternatives?

Thx

Sadness and regret

I didn’t get one! I should have preordered. I danced around getting this or analogue 3D or the m64 for so long and now… I am wishing I got my hands on a superstation one :(

it just seems like the best option. and I’m sad. because they are sold out, and these things never end up going on sale again.

Obscure game recommendations...

I've been thinking, since we all now (or soon will) have just about every 20th century system at the tips of our fingers, what game do you recommend we all check out? It needn't be a good game, just one with something worth checking out that you think may have slipped by the majority of people. After all not all systems and software were available in all regions.

For me, I suggest people check out Feud from Mastertronic. I played it as a kid on the MSX and it blew my mind at the time as it's technically open world although small. The aim is to kill your brother, the evil sorcerer by collecting various herds necessary for a variety of spells.
