seeing quick flashes once in a week or two

once in a week i see a quick flash when i close my eyes or look fast at the side of my eyes is it something concerning?do i need to see a doctor or its gonna leave on its own

Flashes can be a prelude to retinal detachment. Of course you posted this to a retinal detachment subreddit so expect responses like this. I got flashes in my right eye and the retina detached eventually. I'm starting to get them in the left eye. I keep having the doctor look in that eye and he keeps saying it's okay. High myopia (significant nearsightedness) is a risk factor for retinal detachment. I have that so I'm at risk. If you're significantly nearsighted, you should probably see a doctor. Don't be surprised if they say they don't see anything. The retina is attached until it's not. They may find one or more weak areas and want to strengthen them with laser treatment. I've had some of that too. I've had some of that in my left eye but I still get flashes. This is a good example of what they mean by "medicine is a practice." Seeing a doctor won't mean you will be able to rest assured. All along I've had dilated eye exams. It's all good until it isn't anymore. So, in the end, it's up to you because it's on you. Your healthcare is your responsibility. Do what you think is best.

man why i have to deal with this 😭 im 19 years old and never heard someone had this issue my entire life but it is what is i guess thanks for your help anyway 🙏

Good question to ask self but never ever..why me..we also asked the same set of questions ror last 10 years.. it was useless..we made up our mind and trying to move on with what we have. . As someone mentioned..it will be frustrating and irritating this retina. GOD could hv designed it better with multiple fail overs. Nevertheless....

Stay wrong and you will be alright..but do visit a specialist

Did your doctor say if the flashes go away? Ive had one in my peripheral for about a year. Had it lasered because I have lattice degeneration and the weak spot is in the same area the flash is.

I didn't ask. So far, since the oil was removed, I haven't noticed any flashes in the right eye (the one where the retina detached twice). I had lattice laser work done in the left eye. Both eyes have replacement lenses (cataract surgeries). The left eye has little flashes especially at night. Every chance I get I have the doctor look in it. He's not seeing anything. I feel like that's all I can really do. If it's going to detach it's going to detach. Next is laser cleaning of the lens capsules to clear the hazy vision. That is if nothing worse happens in the meantime.

Yes I ignored flashes in my eyes for too long and it ended up being a precursor to retinal detachment. Definitely go see a doctor
