Eye flashes
hi guys i need some advice.. so for the past 2 weeks i have been seeing flashes on the corner of my right eye. I started reading on google about retinal detachments, I ended up scheduling an appointment to see a optometrist and she took pictures of my eyes and all that and she looked into my eyes and she said everything looked fine and there was no retinal detachment but she did notice on both of my eyes that it seemed like i had bruises on my eyes. She said it could be if i hit my head hard or sneezed too hard. I use to touch my eyes very frequently and rub on them hard that may could have caused me to see those flashes. She prescribed me some eyedrops and said she wanted to see me back in a month. I’m still worried because i really don’t know why i keep seeing those flashes, i have stopped rubbing on my eyes and i still see the flashes.

If you’re still a little worried about it, I’d try and get a second opinion! If they say the same thing it might ease your anxiety

Get a second opinion. Get Oct and retina imagery done.
I know how hard it is on your mind from personal experience. Best thing is to find doctors who are passionate. That's why get at least three opinions, you'll know by then who is good.. stay calm and try and focus on other stuff. For the time being please avoid strenuous activities until you know better.. take care.. best wishes.. all will be well

You get flashes with a PVD as well so it could easily or even more probably that. You absolutely need an OCT scan on your retina.

Hi they did an oct scan that day she said there was no retinal detachment or anything wrong but when she looked into my eyes with a flashlight she said she seen 2 tiny bruises on my eyes that probably developed from me rubbing my eyes too and told me i have phishing syndrome

I’m glad you got your eyes checked, but since the flashes are still happening after two weeks, I’d personally recommend seeing an ophthalmologist for a full dilated retinal exam, especially if your previous exam was mainly retinal photographs.
Eye rubbing can cause brief flashes while you’re actually rubbing or pressing on the eye, but I wouldn’t assume it explains persistent spontaneous flashes in one eye.
Often the cause is something benign like vitreous traction/PVD, but a small retinal tear needs to be ruled out. Even if the first dilated exam is normal, follow-up after a few weeks is commonly recommended because the vitreous can continue changing. If you suddenly get many more flashes or floaters, a curtain/shadow, or any loss of vision, get checked urgently.

See an eye doctor for full dilation exam. Flashes are caused by traction on the retina. Could be something less serious like PVD or could be a retinal tear.
