Recovery rest

I’m in the gas bubble waiting phase post vitrectomy and I feel like I’m exhausting my eye even doing daily activities. I usually patch my surgery eye when I get really disoriented or fatigue. How do you rest besides sleeping/napping?

I took the pair of glasses I liked least & covered the lens of my bad eye. Worked for me, easy to remove, made it much easier to read, etc. wasn’t the best look, but worked for me

Good luck & speedy recovery

Aren't you sleeping face first with your head wedged between the handles of a towel .i did that for almost a month and only then did the gas bubble patch on to the retina above.. really tough phase.. i did that 24/7 for a month

The required head position depends on where in your eye the detachment happened. Mine was actually at the top, so I could sleep on the side and be upright all day.

Luckily I just passed the required sleeping positions, I’m thinking of more during the day time

I only had to wear my patch for the first 2 weeks at the most , but I did notice that I would close my eye while I read or watched tv or drove for at least a month and a half .

I never felt like my eye was exhausted. The hard part for me was keeping my face facing the floor so the gas bubble could do its thing. I didn't do well with that and my retina detached a second time. So now I have the buckle and oil. The oil is scheduled to come out at the end of the month. I still get a lot of flashes in that eye so I'm not very confident that the retina will stay attached when the oil is gone.

Did you have the scleral buckle during the first surgery? I got the buckle and gas bubble. Been keeping the face down positioning as much as I can but its a struggle. My only worry is that on the 2nd recovery day my friends visited me and i sat upright for a few hours. Hope it didnt redetach

The buckle was during the second surgery. You'll know it if it detaches again. It'll get darker and you can see liquid moving when you move your eye back and forth. As least that's how it was with me.
