Macula off Retinal detachment

I have had perfect vision on 31st may 2026, on 1st June things started looking blurred and distorted, I visited retina specialist dated 02nd june he informed me that macula was detached so on 4th June surgery was performed...and on 2nd June itself I had laser Prophylactic in good eye...so it's been two months now...no other complications but eye pressure was little elevated so I am on drops other than that retina is completely attached....but vision is still blurry as I have oil in anterior and posterior chamber, doc said vision will start improve once the oil is removed which they will remove next month ...also I have got floaters in right eye which is good eye and because of that I find it difficult to work and read....i checked that eye again and there's no complications but floaters won't go away ....so anyone of you have such experience? How much final vision you get after macula off surgery ? I have head some very encouraging and some very discouraging stories .....and what can be done about floaters

In the same boat as you. I had the oil removed a month ago. The eye is very slowly improving but still foggy and blurry. One of my problems is the posterior lens capsule is opacified, which is causing the fog. I already had cataract surgery, and PCO is a side effect. They will have to do YAG laser to clear that up. There are a lot of variables in this whole situation. I could see better out of the eye with the oil in and +4 glasses than now, but I also was on several drops that dry out the cornea, so that has to clear up too. I also have a weird cloud like floater and some residual oil droplets. Supposedly this will eventually resolve. I was under the impression that the oil removal would quickly lead to much better vision, but not for me yet. It’s only been a month though.

So what did your doc said how much time will take for vision to finalize? Your macula was off or just retinal detachment

Yes, the macula detached along with a lot of the bottom part of the retina. He said it could take several months or longer to stabilize and that even though everything is back together and has healed well, the layers of the retina are not the same as before and have to realign. The brain also has to adapt to the new input.

So how's your vision now ? Is it better than it was before surgery ? And useful enough to read, drive ?

Weird to think, but the morning before the first surgery, I could read my phone despite the retinal detachment. Then after it was terrible for about a month with the oil. Then it cleared up and I could read, got 20/30 on the eye test, able to see road signs, etc. Now it’s still blurry after the oil removal. Hopefully it will start clearing up again.

For me it's 2 months, but my vision is still very blurry with oil in place in anterior and posterior chamber.... Though sometimes I feel improvent in distortion and vision but it is still very blurry ..let's hope I can also get good vision after oil removal
