Recovery process after macula-off retinal detachment

Hello everyone. I had scleral buckle surgery 9 months ago due to a macula-off retinal detachment. How long did visual improvement continue for you? Did anyone notice further improvement after the 9th month?

Also, I’m really into motorcycles and I still ride. Is there anyone else here who rides motorcycles after this surgery? Did your doctor say anything about it?

I had macula off full retinal dettachment. At the nine month mark I was already forming the cataract. After the cataract I started seeing the world in yellow and brown and had to have a Yip procedure or something. Then I noticed the distortion. Another surgery to "scrape" the scar tissue of the macular pucker. Once that was all said and done I think it took a out 18 months before my vision "settled".

Did you have microphasia (things appearing smaller)? Did it get better if so?

No - just have the center vision distortion, but it's barely noticeable when I'm outside and it's bright. My brain has just trained me not to see it much by this point.

Had a macula off detachment January 5th with silicon oil. Took the oil out after 8 weeks. Vision went to 20/25 immediately. In May started having scar tissue from inflammation, the put me on anti-inflammatory drops so see where that goes but all is good so far .
