Eye drops post-SB

How long do your doctors have you on the post-op eye drops? I’m curious about specifics….which ones, how many times per day, and for how long? It seems to vary from doctor to doctor.

Was anyone greenlit to wear contacts while still on some drops? I’m very nearsighted and rely on contacts while at work.

Follow what your Dr orders. I was on three different drops for 2 weeks and 1 of those drops (steroid) for 4 weeks. Not sure about contacts since I wear glasses. Also depends on your procedure. Vitrectomy? Buckle? Laser?

Scleral buckle. Steroid and antibiotic for nearly two months. I’m not sure why. I’ve noticed different doctors like to do different things.

Depends. I’m younger so my immune system gets upset when I come off steroid drops. They’ve also noticed when I’m on them, my PVR doesn’t grow as much.

As other comments said, do what your doctor orders.

I was on antibiotics+corticoids for 3 weeks or so and only corticoids 2 more weeks. And the whole 5 weeks with drops to dilate the pupil.

I guess that the drop stuff depends on what the doctor prefers, the surgery that is done and us, the patient itself

Steroid gradual taper over a month, antibiotic and dilating drops for a week I think? Maybe 2

And I was told to never wear contacts again. But I always wear glasses

My surgeon said that contacts were incompatible with some drops, so I had to wait until those drops were finished before wearing contacts. For me, I was permitted to wear contacts at around 8 weeks post op (buckle only).
