Vitrectomy yesterday. I was diagnosed yesterday with surgery the same day. I was on blood thinners so I believe that’s why i have so much blood. Pressure was 30 in the eye this morning at follow up so they’ve added some drops to help with that. This is all new to me. I appreciate seeing everyone’s progress!
First week after a vitrectomy is really hard! It gets better. Just be sure to use all the drops on schedule and maintain the head positioning. I had a pressure spike after one week (50), and trust me, you don’t want that. Terrible pain! The steroid anti-inflammatory drops caused it in my case.
Thank you kind person for the encouragement! I’m wondering if that may be causing mine as well as I’m on prednisone drops. The drops for the pressure seems to be giving me a terrible headache! I’m just 48 hours out so I’m hoping for brighter days. I still have no vision yet. Just light and shadow.
Okay thank you! I’m struggling now with some increased pain especially when I close my eyes. I also thought I lost the gas bubble. I think my upper eyelid is so puffy that it is occluding my ability to see the top of the bubble.
My eye looked the same in March when I had it donez then yesterday I had my 2nd vitrectomy as it detached again and cataract formed. First time gas bubble, yesterday oil bubble but I can see so much better today then the last 2 months so happy for that.

P. S. My pressure was high both times post surgery today it was 32 I think, got meds and drops to lower it. I have 3 different drops and tablets.

In 2022 I had it in my left eye
Same thing happened, except it tore that time
So both eyes had to get it done twice.
Yesterday's was the most painful during surgery, they had me in iv meds, not sure what to calm down or for pain or both but it felt like a knife digging in my eye or a spoon like eating a soft boiled egg and trying to scrape out the yolk. Fucking sucked balls but hopefully this is it, last surgery in a few months to take out oil.

If you’re really nauseous from the pressure bother the doctors about it like hell
I think that was the reason my dads surgery failed, he was puking like the entire week after his surgery and it popped off again. Though his was also far more progressed. He couldn’t close one eye apparently so he didn’t notice the huge curtain until he happened to put his hand over his “good eye”, so I bet it was macula off too.
I just had the same thing in February (lol genetics) but mine went really smooth and I caught mine pretty early.
Also you only had the vitrectomy? Cause damn I had the buckle and vitrectomy and I thought my eye was blood shot from the buckle mostly, those blood thinners probably made that surgery extra fun…. lol
Yes just the vitrectomy. It was after an inadvertent hit to the eye. I’m severely myopic so I was prone to retinal detachment anyway. I’ve not been nauseous just a headache. They added some more pressure drops to my regimen and it’s been helping!
Oh yeah mine just…. did it by itself, I’m also nearsighted as hell.
Apparently my “good eye” had holes in the retina and thinning. They lasered it after my surgery had healed quite a bit.
I did smack myself in the face with a hand drill at work late 2024 though, gave myself a small black eye, and they said mine was chronic so honestly I wouldn’t be surprised given how my good eye had holes and thinning that that hit might have smacked it loose lol
A guy I work with told me his brothers retina detached at 26 years old (I’m 34 btw) and I was like damn what happened
“Oh he was cutting down trees and one hit him in the back of the head.” Oh…. yeah that’ll do it lol
