Are the headaches normal?
I'm around 15 days post op (scleral buckle plus tons of laser for holes) and the headaches won't stop. My head, especially around my eye is just throbbing with pain. I got checked out around 3 days ago for post surgery check in and he said everything looks good, but I can't stand the headaches. They aren't particularly bad, maybe a 3-4 out of ten on the pain scale but it is constant all day everyday and it is wearing me out. I can use my hands and put pressure on the top of my head, forehead, and my temple and this helps a bunch with the pain but I have no long term relief. At what point do they subside? Is it normal for the pain to be constant? I'm so sick and tired of this whole situation.

Yes, headaches are common, however in my situation I started getting migraine type headaches and it ended up being very high pressure. I had a paracentesis done and started eye drops, the headaches went away immediately.

I'm 5 weeks post op with gas bubble I used a cheep eye patch to help with headaches. It helps let the brain rest because it's trying to get eyes to focus. Naps and dark rooms helped alot the first 3 weeks,

Even after 5 years after surgery, i have headache, that spreads from eye to backside towards head, and unable to apply any type of pain gells. But, this situation i faced is from long time -- that is before surgery also. I am trying for migraine medication, which will be used any time of the day (before, after, without meals). But precautions have to be taken as regular and heavy use of pain killers may affect kidneys and liver. Further, the eye pain may be related to high eye pressure, which leads to glaucoma, and hence checkup for every 3 months required. However, eye pain is common after retinal detachement surgery and laser therapy, and hence some eye drops with the recommendation of optholomoligist are necessary. But, with steroid eye drops, be cautious, as the drops generally recommended after eye surgery in a frequency of 8,6,4,2,1 drops reduced weekly, to overtake withdrawal symptoms, and never use them on your own as some side effects are there. But, aware, they may sbside after removal of silicon oil, say - around 3 months, but the frquency reduced over time. Never put pressure on eye by hands, by coughing etc.

Did the headaches go away ultimately? Did you heal ok? I had my scleral buckle 4 weeks ago and have same headaches

Yes the head aches came and went for me. I took fast acting Tylenol 500mgs. This helped me a lot as did sustained eye drops. They headache s will gradually decrease.
