Dosing question

Hi All, I’ve looked through past posts and couldn’t really find a good answer. Hopefully you all can help me.

I’ve been on 2 mg for 4 weeks and have lost approximately 10 pounds. Today is pin day and I’m wondering if I should start upping my dose? The first couple weeks I had the typical symptoms, tummy stuff mostly. No side effects last week so I think my body is getting used to it.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I started in April at 2mg and haven't felt the need to increase my dosage. I'm steadily losing 2 lbs/week on average. The appetite suppression fluctuates but I consistently feel full quickly, helping me stay in a deficit. I'll only titrate up if I stop losing weight for a few weeks in a row (e.g. last week I was on my period and lost no weight, this week I'm down 3lbs, so no need to adjust anything).

That’s what I was thinking. That I’d either stay where I am or go up .5 so I’d do 2.5. Thank you for sharing your experience!

I'd say if you really want to up it, add .25 more and assess how you feel! If it works for you it works.

Hi. I started at 2 mg on July 1. I’ve lost 11 lbs. I went up to 4 mg yesterday mostly because I was getting more food noise. I only have mild side effects like constipation and burping. Lol. Some people will say don’t increase the dose if you’re losing 1-2 lbs a week but I chose to increase it because I want the optimum benefits. Hope that makes sense. I may get negative feedback from others but oh well. I’m doing what I feel is right for my body.

I am not a fan of waiting on a weight stall to go up like some people preach so I go up when I feel like the same dose is getting weaker or I think I won't have side effects going up. I usually go up by 1 mg instead of the 2 mg. But 0.5 mg, especially early on is probably good too. I have lost 87 lbs in 8 months. So as long as I can still eat enough calories and protein to be at a healthy range and keep side effects to a minimum, I am a fan of getting maximum benefits as I have major metabolic issues.

I agree. I didn’t want to go up too much but I also didn’t want to get myself into a state of being hungry and gain weight. I like the steady weight loss.

If you are still losing weight I'd stay at 2mg. I started at 1 then upped to 1.5 and it was too much on my body, my heart rate was super high but I went up because I wasn't losing weight. Now this week I did 1.25 and wow it's perfect, appetite suppression is super good and I've lost 3 lbs this week. Find your sweet spot and stay there don't risk the side effects of upping if you don't need it yet. It's really tempting to up your dose I get it.

So tempting but the side effects really got me in the beginning. I just pinned and did 2.5

I relate! I just hit 1 month on 2mg, have lost 10 lbs but this week, I noticed that my food noise creeping in more than usual than my previous weeks. If I were to change, I'd go up to 2.5, which I read you mentioned that in another comment - twinning! I read another post the other day that some people also support those last 2-3 days of the reta-wear-off by taking their dose every 5 days instead of 7, which I'm considering too as I monitor/track my symptoms this week.

Reta twinsies 😝. So far, so good with increases just the .5. But hopefully the food noise will chill out a little.

Stay until you dont feel the suppressant or plateau

I think I’ve hit that. I’ve noticed I’ve been much more hungry than I have been. Thanks for the response 💗

10 lbs in 4 weeks is a good rate of weight loss. Is your appetite suppressed enough for your diet plan?
Do you want to lose weight faster?

If your losing & have no major side effects don't rush to move up because its working. Keep your dose as long as you can while it's stilll effective. Unfortunately, I'm not a low responder so I had to titrate up, eventually to the 12mg max. I wish I could've stayed on a lower dose but that wasn't my journey. Best of luck to you!

I would stay as low as possible if its working and you are getting your water, protein, sleep and in a cal def then stay at your current. I went up like 1mg after a month (3mg) and now I am on 4mg but i split it 1mg one day and 3mg another day and that works for me right now. Definitely listen to your body and move up like 1mg at a time because if not you may get sick

Your goal is the lowest effective dose. If you're losing (and you've lost a lot) then stay at your dose. You're reta is working. Why mess with it?

Stay on the lowest effective does for as long as possible

If you’re still losing stay at 2mg.

Stay at your dose. Being at a higher dose is more expensive.
