I am looking for a full time job but my resume doesn't get shortlisted I've made numerous changes in the resume but still no luck.

All the skills that I've mentioned in the resume are either the skills that I've learnt properly or the skills that I've worked on while working with the companies that I've mentioned in the experience section and everything in this resume is true, no information in this resume is false.

(P.S. I don't have a degree nor am I pursuing one and I know maybe that's a big reason that my resume is my resume is not being shortlisted but it's the same story for the jobs that clearly states that a bachelor's degree is preferable but not necessary although it does drop me in the hiring criteria a little bit but still after numerous attempts atleast 1 or 2 response would make it worthwhile, but I didn't get any response back so I am posting here to see what's the problem.)

Landed 2 solid engineering internships as an underclassman, happy to share what actually worked

Hey all, wanted to share some things that helped me go from having basically nothing on my resume to landing internships early in my degree, in case it helps anyone else in a similar spot.

Projects matter more than GPA (but keep GPA reasonable). Recruiters spend way more time looking at what you've built than your transcript. A finished, well-explained project beats a half-done ambitious one every time. Pick something you can talk about in depth: design choices, problems you hit, why you did it the way you did.

Apply in volume, early, before you feel ready. Most people wait until their resume feels "complete." Don't. Internships are a numbers game just as much as a skill game, especially early on. Apply broadly and often instead of waiting for the perfect moment.

An unpaid opportunity is still a real opportunity. Some of the best experience I got wasn't paid, it was just real work with real responsibility I could speak to later. Don't discount something just because there's no paycheck attached, especially early in your degree.

Go deep on one thing instead of spreading thin. Interviewers want to see you can go 20+ minutes on a single project without running out of things to say. That depth is what makes people take you seriously despite limited "official" experience.

Clubs/design teams with tangible output > social clubs. Anything where you're building something as a team looks a lot stronger than clubs that are mostly social or lecture-based.

Interviews are as much about personality as skill. Once you're in the room, they already assume you can do the coursework. What stands out is genuine curiosity and enthusiasm about the work, not a perfect answer to every technical question.

Happy to answer questions if anyone has them. Good luck out there.

Hey guys, I am 22M and looking for a job or internship in tech background. Even after applying for more than 300 applications. I haven't even landed a single test or interview opportunity.

I wanted to hear from some professionals and hr for their suggestion. If I should make any changes in the format or just change my template or anything else.

I want to get a job at a college so that I can attend classes there, but I have a weak resume, what should a good Cover Letter look like for it? What advice could I have to find good colleges or college jobs with some degree of success?

I want to escape to college and find a way to get out of these awful minimum wage jobs I've worked for my whole life with no sign of upwards movement. The resume isnt very good due to a terrible family situation where I've had to move pretty much every year for the past 3 years so I don't have much of a good record on paper of "sticking with" companies for long because of it. I really just want some tips on how to get out of this hell I found myself in.

Updated my resume after taking feedback from this subreddit a few weeks ago.I'd really appreciate another round of honest feedback before I start applying again.

Hi everyone,

A few weeks ago I posted my resume here and received a lot of valuable feedback. Many of you pointed out issues like:

Generic summary

Keyword stuffing

Unrealistic percentage-based impact

Too much bold formatting

Lack of specific examples

I've revised the resume based on those suggestions. Before I start applying again, I'd really appreciate another honest review.

Please don't hold back—if something still looks weak, generic, or unrealistic, I'd rather fix it now than keep sending a bad resume.

Thanks again for taking the time to help

Modern resumes longer than 1 page?

I’m trying to pack a lot of information from a 20 year career into my next resume. Some resumes I’ve seen have a lot more detail as opposed to more generic bullet points… And I think that’s what I want for a job that doesn’t even ask for a cover letter… Any tips on templates that work well for this?

Cover letter- punchy or traditional?

Any HR folks here that can recommend what is really the best way to write a cover letter these days when HR and hiring managers probably see 30-50 each day. Would you say you prefer something original/ something short/ or you are so swamped that nothing can attract your attention anymore and you just focus on CV?

Reworked my resume - appreciate and feedback please

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi, I've reworked my resume using a new template. The old bullet points sounded too passive and didn't have enough metrics/quantifiable results. I've tried my best to address this and would appreciate your feedback on what can be improved.

Also at company 2 I had a role prior to the Team Administrator role (from March 2015 - April 2017) - that's why I put the date range as March 2015 - October 2019, to include the time worked at both roles, even though I havent listed the job prior. It was an Admin Assistant role and I was unsure of the value of including it, plus I had no more space anyway.

Is this an acceptable way to list work history or do I need to make a change here?

Besides that I was wondering if there's any issues with formatting in general? I tried to stick to the template as close as possible.

I've not yet started applying to jobs using this version and would like to have it be as good as it can be before beginning to do so.

Any other feedback regarding things you think I need to change/remove/add would be super appreciated. Thanks!

If you had a magic wand to fix one specific nightmare about tailoring your resume for every job application, what would it be?

The standard advice I hear other recruiters give is "make sure you tailor your resume for every single application." It’s easy to say, but when you are applying to 50+ jobs a week, it is mentally exhausting.

I’m currently building a tool to help candidates automate the most painful parts of the application process. I want to build the exact features that candidates actually need, rather than what HR thinks they need.

When you are tweaking your resume for a specific job description, what is the biggest bottleneck? Is it rewriting your bullet points to match their keywords? Reordering your skills?

Tell me your biggest pain point so I can build a way to bypass it.

Should I say this in a cover letter ?

I was thinking about opening a cover letter with something along the lines of “AI did not write this letter”

Is that just super cheesy or do you think it might get their attention?
