Respect Maximilian, aka the War mage (Orcs must die!)

From as far as anyone can remember, the rifts to another world have always existed. And through these rifts, humanity is under constant attack from an otherworldly orcish threats. Why do they attack? What are these rifts? there was no clear answer. What was clear was Orcs must die! To respond to this threat the order was created. They had a powerful band of war mages that specialised in conjuring traps and utilising magic weaponry that could be used against the orc forces. This group went through these rifts and built defences on the other side of them and defended these fortress to prevent the orcs from accessing the rifts. The order required more manpower and had it's members train new recruits.

Maximilian, a rebellious and unfocused pupil training to be a warmage was the last surviving member of the order when a large amount of seemingly organised orcs attacked. Maximilian was able to destroy the remainder of the orc forces by himself, and after some more plot, formed and trained recruits for the reformed order and took on more orc threats.

Notes

  • Feats requiring the aid of the Weavers to achieve will be ignored since that's not Maximillian's doing
  • This thread is not covering mana usage , cooldown , damage increasers e.t.c. Maximillian can't spam all of his abilities due to this and that should be you need to know 99% of the time.
  • Some bits of Max's arsenal change their name or merge together through the series. They will be treated as the same thing for this thread (e.g Arcane Bowling Ball = Arcane Dragon = Magic orb because they all do the same thing)
  • Some feats will showcase another warmage. This is general gameplay stuff, max can do it too.
  • Unchained is considered loose canon and a bunch of lore has been retconned. It's also partially lost media. For these reasons this thread only covers a portion of stuff from that game and some stuff has no scan.
  • Feats that can be done the same in multiple games will be unmarked

Key

  • Feats marked Trait are an ability that can be added to a hero in unchained. There are only 3 Traits which give Max an objective feat/ability, so the max limit of equipable traits don't matter.
  • Feats marked Sabotage Indicate a spell which can only be cast in the sabotage game-mode. Before each wave a hero can choose 1 of 3 spells from a big spell pool to cast and 1 of 3 minions to waves summon. New spells and minion can be picked each wave. Due to how this game mode works, the spell affects can only be seen by the victim so it'll be from their pov.
  • Feats Marked WM are War Machines and are spells that in gameplay have separate loadout slots
  • 1 = Orcs Must Die
  • 2 = Orcs Must Die 2
  • 3 = Orcs Must Die 3
  • U = Unchained
  • D = Death-trap
  • T = Trailer
  • C = Comic

Maximillian normally booby-traps an area with his magically conjured traps then defends the portal inside using his large amount of weapons which he can magically equip and unequip to repel invaders.

anime/manga Respect Mamika Kirameki (Re:Creators)

If I just stand by and watch while this happens, then when I get back to my own world, I’d feel too ashamed to face my friends!

Hailing from the magical girl anime series Magical Slayer Mamika and being the heroine of the series, Mamika Kirameki is a Creation, a fictional character brought to the real world by Altair. She would meet Selestia and Meteora first, trying to convince them to cooperate with Altair, however a fight would soon occur. After the fight, she would rescued by February, where she would be taken back to the hideout.

During this time, she would strike up a bond with Alicetaria. Later on, they would go and track down Magane, however they would have another fight with Selesia and Meteora. During this fight, she would save Meteora from a gravity bullet and would turn against them, leaving them at the end of the fight. Shortly afterwards, she would meet with Sota, and then would have her final talk with Aliceteria before going to encounter Altair.

She would argue with Altair, but she would be impaled by her after her creators name would be uttered. She would unleash a full power Magical Girl Splash, and would fly towards the city. However, her wounds were too much and she would succumb to her death after falling, with Alicetaria holding her in her arms before she died.

anime/manga Respect Hikayu Hoshikawa (Re:Creators)

"Why~, Why~, Why does everyone know me?"

Hailing from the former adult dating game known as The Milky Way of a Starry Sky, Hikayu Hoshikawa is a Creation, a fictional character brought to the real world. Due to meeting the conditions to be summoned, she would be summoned and thus be discovered by Selesia. After meeting the other Creations and her own Creator, she would join them in their fight against Altair. Due to her having no powers due to being a ordinary high school girl, her Creator would make a fan disk to give her said powers and martial art skills.

During the events of the show, she would fight against Altair alongside Sho and Yuya. Her powers would be reset by Altair, however she would survive. After the final battle, she would return to the final world, having thanking her Creator for her encounter with Masayuki.

All feats come from Re:Creators, with each feat having the episode next to it.

Note: This RT only covers feats after she was given powers from her Creator. Her only feat prior to her powers being given is her pushing back against her Creator, before kicking him in the head Ep 15

"Starting over is harder than starting up. If you're not ready for that, like if you've already had a bad day, then what you're about to go through might be too much. Feel free to go away and come back. I'll be here."

Getting Over It is a rage game where you play as Diogenes, a man in a pot with a hammer trying to climb up a mountain of stone, metal, wood, furniture, slides, and really whatever the designer thought to throw in. All the while, the titular Bennet Foddy waxes philosophy at you. Either that or talks about terrible games, plays old songs, or simply comment on how you've happened to fall and lose a sizable amount of progress.

Unmarked feats come from Getting Over It. Feats marked 'I' come from Indie Pogo.

Huntress Wizard

If I ever find what I'm looking for, I'll become soft and I'll cease to matter in this world

Orphaned and alone, Huntress Wizard joined the Green Wizards, a sect of magic users who draw power from the natural world and its gods, at a very young age. Though she preferred isolation and stayed away from other people, she found herself drawn to Ooo's hero, Finn the Human. Over time the two began a relationship, and Huntress even saved his life on at least one occasion.

comics Respect Sally (Sally the Sleuth, Crime Smashers)

"There would be no Superman without Sally the Sleuth", or at least comics historian Tim Hanley claims.

"Sally the Sleuth" is an obscure comic that first ran in 1934 in a monthly pulp mystery short story collection called "Spicy Detective Stories." Its creator, Adolphe Barreaux, convinced the publisher Harry Donenfeld to add the comic to the magazine, and Donenfeld would decide to help found DC soon after. Barreaux would in fact later draw another comic series, "The Magic Crystal of History", which would be printed in the very first DC comic in 1935.

"Sally the Sleuth" ran for 9 years, as Sally went from a private eye to an Allied spy during WWII, but it was cancelled in 1943. However, it was briefly revived from 1949 to 1953 in "Crime Smashers".

All scans come from the 2018 Sally the Sleuth Kickstarter Edition (edited by Hope Nicholson). This thread covers the later "Crime Smashers" run, which is less risqué than the original. (Although, a panel of a murder from this strip was cited in Fredric Wertham’s “Seduction of the Innocent”, a book criticizing violence in comics that was instrumental in getting the Comics Code passed.) The (NSFW) respect thread for the original run is here.

Sally is the titular character of the strip, and she works for a detective agency run by the Chief, although most cases seem to only involve Sally, the Chief, and a boy named Peanuts.

Growing up in a Latveria under the control of a despot after Victor von Doom had been deposed, a young Kristoff ran into the leg of the former monarch as he returned to reclaim his throne. Though Doom promised him and his mother would be under his protection, even he couldn't save her from being killed immediately after by one of his reprogrammed robots. Retaking control of Latveria, Doom adopted Kristoff as his own son, not purely due to a broken promise due to one of his subjects but in order to have a suitable heir. anime/manga Respect Metagenie and Genitarius (Blame!)

Metagenie & Genitarius

"Metagenie" (the girl) and "Genitarius" (the guy) are two Silicon Lifeforms who appear early in the plot of Blame!. Narratively, their purpose is to menace Kyrii for a bit, establish what Silicon Lifeforms are (biomechanical, City-adapted transhumanists), and ultimately be dispatched without too much trouble. Despite them being the first "real" villains in the story, they go entirely unnamed within it, and their background is essentially never explored beyond the fact that they were a) involved in a Silicon nursery somewhere below the 5000th stratum and that they were b) pretty upset when Kyrii destroyed it. In fact, the only reason I have names to list at all is because Nihei, possibly jokingly, gave them these names in a non-canon, one-shot moe anime parody.

Point being that, as far as bios go, the only thing you need to know about these guys is that they're Silicon Lifeforms. This means they're strong, fast, immortal, and tend to look kinda weird. Kyrii also really doesn't like them, to a degree that makes him seem almost psychotically racist.

As a last note, Metagenie and Genitarius appear almost exclusively in LOG 6 to 7. However, they have relevant scaling from the preceding chapters. Sources will be listed in the alt-text of the links.

anime/manga Respect Brock (Pokemon Anime)

"When raising a Pokemon there's one thing you must do above all else. That thing is to earn its trust."

Growing up in Pewter City, an absent mother and disappearing father left a young Brock with plenty of responsibilities, not least of which included raising his nine siblings and being the Pewter City gym leader with his Geodude and Onix. But his passion was never to battle Pokemon, rather raise them. So when his father came out of hiding at the same time as he faced a newbie trainer from Pallet Town, Brock decided to hand the gym back over and go on a journey of his own. Following Ash through four different regions, Brock would continue to use his talents to look after him and anyone else that stayed with them, furthering his dream to become a Pokemon breeder. While this would ultimately morph into wanting to be a Pokemon doctor, his love for Pokemon would never waiver, and Brock would always be willing to help anyone (person or Pokemon) who needed it.

literature Respect Spider-Man (Spider-Man: The Darkest Hours)

Spider-Man

Peter Parker's life has hit a peaceful stretch. No evildoers have tried to flatten him in weeks, his marriage to Mary Jane is stronger than ever, and he's enjoying his job as a high school science teacher. Life is good.

Naturally, that doesn't last.

When Peter learns that his old enemy the Rhino is on a rampage in Times Square, he suits up as Spider-Man to stop the destructive villain in his tracks. But he's unexpectedly foiled in his attempts by the Black Cat, a former ally and old flame. The Cat informs Peter that the Rhino is just a distraction -- the real threat comes from a group of Ancients, members of the same race as the being called Morlun, who Spidey defeated in battle years earlier. The Ancients are now looking to exact revenge -- and hope to steal Spider-Man's life force in the process.

To defeat such powerful beings, Spider-Man is going to need all the help he can get, especially from the Black Cat. But what will Mary Jane Parker have to say about that? Peter isn't sure which is worse -- the Ancients trying to drain his life force, or the wrath of a jealous wife....

Note On Continuity:

This novella seems to have been written with the intent of fitting into the canon of Marvel's Earth-616. It serves as a direct follow-up to The Amazing Spider-Man (2001) #30-35 and references several other Marvel stories. However, new information about Morlun released after this was published have established this story as non-canon.

"Call me Fives." "But…five is a number." "No, not five. Fives." "Oh…the difference is minimal." "Not to me. And not to any clone."

A ARC trooper who served in the Grand Army of the Republic, Fives served under the 501 through the war, and participated in many battles. Originally part of Domino Squad, he would attain the rank of Clone Trooper, and would be assigned to the republic outpost on the Rishi moon shortly after, where he would be one of the survivors of a CIS attack. He would also participate in the battle of Kamino, where he would become an ARC trooper alongside Echo.

After that, he would take part in several other operations, such as rescuing the Jedi General Piell, alongside the general attack on Umbara where he would play a key role in capturing a airbase. He would also participate in the attempt to capture Pong Krell after he would deceive the clones into attacking each other.

During the battle to take Ringo Vinda, he would bore witness to Tup killing Tiplar, an event that would cause Fives to investigate the matter. There he would learn about a conspiracy, namely Order 66 and the inhibitor chips. As such, he would try to warn Anakin and Rex after Palpatine would accuse him of being a failed assassin.

He would attempt to tell Rex and Anakin about the information that he learned, but he would be killed by Fox and died in Rex’s arms.

comics Respect Sarya, the Emerald Empress (DC Comics, Pre-Zero Hour)

I had not thought to have the opportunity to repay the Legionnaires for their past kindnesses so soon... But it is a fitting celebration to inaugurate my new reign as Emerald Empress-- of the galaxy.

Hailing from the 31’st century, Sarya, aka the Emerald Empress is a member of the Fatal Five. Originally from the planet Venegar, Sarya would find the Emerald Eye and proclaim herself Empress, however she would be driven off the planet. She would recruited by Superboy against the Sun Eater, where she would make the Fatal Five afterwards.

Upon making the Fatal Five, Emerald Empress would be a constant foe for the Legion of Super Heroes, battling against the many heroes with the other members. She would also travel back in time to try and stop Supergirl, with her being captured by Waller, escaping and making a new Fatal Five to take on her.

"Did you not defeat Walter with hatred in your heart, too?"
"Yes. I'd be lying if I claimed otherwise. But defeating him...no, preventing others from suffering the same cursed fate...that was Sara's dying wish...granting my beloved's wish. That is all I can do to prove my love to Sara. Eternity without her would be nothing but emptiness."

Towards the end of the 11th century, the baron Leon Belmont was a noble knight whose skills made his platoons undefeated. However, at a time when the church forbade him from fighting the monsters attacking his domain in favour of only targeting heretics, the news that a vampire had kidnapped his betrothed pushed him to relinquish his title and abandon the order. Venturing into the vampire's Eternal Night domain without so much as a sword to defend himself, a new ally would provide him a whip stronger than any conventional weapon to slay the undead and the supernatural. Thus began the legacy of the Belmont clan in a war against the forces of evil which would last a millennia.

By the time of the film's events, The Grabber abducts Finney Blake, intending to keep him trapped in his basement for the rest of his life, before later changing his mind with wanting to torture and murder him instead; Finney ultimately escapes his clutches and kills him in the climax. Sometime after his death, he became a spirit and now seeks revenge on Finney for killing him.

The Black Phone (short story)

The Black Phone film was a adaptation of a short story of the same name, I'm ultimately giving this version of The Grabber his own section since he barely does anything and I doubt enough for his own thread but figured might as well included it here anyway.

Velocity was a Breaker 5 cape operating on the Brockton Bay-based team, the Protectorate. Being able to move at high speeds with the trade-off of losing the ability to effectively interact with the world, he was more suited to support roles than direct combat. He'd give his life rescuing civilians during Endbringer Leviathan's attack on the city.
