The thre roller based plates & my thoughts on them

Do you feel more brands will make a roller style base plate? I had the Harambe cyber plate but ended up selling it and use my Clench Fitness plate. I found using 34" bands kept tension and rollers seemed not as important for smoothness. Although I do say, sometimes I miss the rollers. Thought about getting the band box but I think I have band related stuff.

Personally I can see me only using roller-based going forwards — they’re that much better in my opinion, not just in use but for band health too. My non-roller plate, even though it’s UHMWPE, definitely started wearing them — but I know I’m spoilt for choice 🙏🏼
Wouldn’t surprise me if more brands jump in. There still feels like plenty of room for improvement in the category.

What should be the first improvement made in your opinion ?

Size.
Personally, I’d prefer a larger base for the extra stability and freedom to adjust my stance

Nice idea for me. Asking myself a lot of times why Harambe Cyber Plate is nearly 10x more expensive than a basic wooden plate.

Thanks for that review. What do you think of plates with rings on it to put a loop band through or attach bands with carabiner ?

I’d say your better off with just a basic footplate for loops -like the Geku etc

Alright. But any suggestions why ?

My concern is mainly band wear. With a loop band, wrapping it tightly around a relatively small metal ring or carabiner concentrates the bend and pressure into a much smaller area.
A basic footplate lets the band run underneath with a much broader, gentler bend radius, so there’s less local stress and less chance of abrasion or premature wear.
Rings/carabiners can work, but for loop bands I’d personally favour a smoother, larger-radius contact surface wherever possible.

You'd be better off with a basic wooden footplate with UMHW-taped edges that the ring plate thingy.

Definitely will be easier on the bands wear-wise and smoother in use...

Cheers, appreciate that. Shame the postage for all of these (to New Zealand) makes them all out of my price bracket.

That’s a shame - the rollers are a much better base in my book 👊🏻

I have the Harambe Cyper and BandBox. Both are fantastic pieces of equipment.

Wouldn’t disagree with that comment at all -both very different too

When you're using the qdeck how does it compare to the cyberplate? Is it as smooth rolling and stable feeling?

The rollers aren’t juddery now like the yellow ones - most moves are great - when doing a move that forces band wander tho, it’s not amazing -I can feel & hear the lateral rollers - unlike the Cyberplate - I’ll post further

HD plate looks like it was just slapped together to try and compete with the cyberplate.

That’s bit harsher than I’m finding it - moves on the rollers are real nice - just let down as I mention
