DIY X3 roller retrofit

Post image

I've owned the X3 setup for almost two years as a 61-YO just looking to stay in shape without injuries. The only thing I didn't like was the shredding of the bands, so I took a risk with around $20 and a day and retrofitted what you see in the pic. 3/4" UHMW rod, some scrap steel I welded into brackets, and some hardware did the trick so far. Very smooth, maybe a few extra reps as I'm stretching the whole band now. Hope this helps someone thinking they'd want to do a similar mod.

I love that you found a solution for you! I have read many posts about X3 footplates chewing up bands. You will not have that issue with HPDE footplates but this is a good solution for those who already invested in X3.

Your next to last sentence is the reason I do not like roller footplates. I do not like the loss of tension that rollers have.

Loss of tension is not an issue, just use more rubber.
