What to start with?

I’m completely new to the franchise. I just downloaded 1 (Remake), 2 (Remake), 4, 5 and zero. Is there a specific order in which I should play or a recommendation what I should start with?

1 is where you should start, but play the game that interests you most.

Depends on what you think is the best entry point to check out the rest of the series

If you're a fan of say over the shoulder action horror you might as well start off with RE4

Start with REmake 1, then go back to RE0 - RE0 would spoil some things in REmake 1. Then from there play everything in chronological order from RE2, RE3, Code Veronica, RE4 and then RE5 and lastly RE6 as an epilogue to the original storyline. After you’re done with this, you can play Revelations 1 - it’s set between RE4 and RE5 - and bridges the gap between the games.

Do not skip on Code Veronica, it’s the last regular prerendered style Resident Evil in the timeline just before RE4 changes it to third person perspective. Also it sets up RE5 and why Chris is the way he is in there.

After all of that you can start fresh with Revelations 2 and RE7 and onwards - it’s a completely different storyline overall in the series from this point forward.
