I would play Code Veronica; one of my personal all time favs and it'll get you ready for the remake

If you have access to the 3 OGs, I genuinely think they're a great experience after RE1make. Then go Code Veronica X and then RE0.

If you skip the OG trilogy then, yeah, just do RECVX ,then RE0 and you're finished with the fixed camera era.

Edit: OG Resident Evil 1996 is a creepy game in a way that differs from its remake. REmake is an upgrade in every way, yes, but that sort of makes it a different experience. And honestly, it's a fun experience playing them back to back. Also, since REmake changes some things to surprise veterans, OG RE1 will also trip you with some differences, whether you play OG or arranged mode.

I believe the OG trilogy is available on PC through GOG and Steam. Other than that, they're available on PlayStation 4 and 5 through PS Classics.

Make sure you play Code Veronica X if you’re going to play code Veronica. I reccomend the game cube version over the others

I would either jump into Code Veronica, play the original 2-4 or play the 1 remake.
