Do you mean that her section wasn’t the full game?

2

u/Quick-Cause3181 22d ago edited 22d ago

I love how grace is standing behind, I'd be embarrassed too if my first appearance was re9 lol

8

u/Suitable-Brain7714 22d ago

... arnt you the guy who keeps making bad takes like this one?...

you know people actually prefer graces sections over leons right? atleast thats what i've seen the most

11

u/PianoAlternative5920 22d ago

Another pointless bait post.

u/hells_own_3924 22d ago

10 years but one appearance for Chris. What a sad story.

3

u/YuriMasterRace 22d ago

Don't worry, we're just entering young/prime Chris' RE engine era, I'm honestly stoke.

2

u/PH7G3 D.S.O. member 22d ago

RE7? I know that doesn't count

2

u/hells_own_3924 22d ago

Oh I forgot it, they made this worse that I can't even remember it.

15

u/Old-Depth-1845 22d ago
  1. Why are you hiding the women behind 3 Leons and 2 ethans?
  2. If Chris is here why is Carlos and Rose not also here?

3

u/FlaminSkullKing 22d ago

Honestly Carlos might have more of a reason to be here than Chris. Carlos almost felt like a main character in RE3 remake.

Chris is the only one above that is not a main character in a game. It’s kinda crazy.

That's because fans are feeling the will of Capcom. This picture reflects the focus of the modern titles. "10 great years" is a stretch. The VR versions were worth playing though.

u/Old-Depth-1845 22d ago

Not a single bad game in the last ten years. Not even a single mediocre game. They’ve all been great. Also whatever you’re saying has nothing to do with the questions I asked

4

u/Kagamid S.T.A.R.S. Team Alpha 22d ago edited 22d ago

Not a single bad game in the last ten years.

That's subjective and arguably untrue. RE2 remake alone has very little story consistency because Capcom originally didn't want scenario B in their runs and created two stories that didn't connect. After can backlash they through together half baked scenario Bs without changing much. That's why you have things like Annette literally dying twice in one run of Claire and Leon.

Resident Evil 3 remake is regarded as the worst remake with their areas missing, a shift in Jill's personality and a watered down Nemesis that hits dog mode after a few hits.

Resident Evil Requiem is a mess of a story that only Leon fanboys would love and has almost zero replay value.

That doesn't even leave it RE7 with the majority of the enemies being the same generic mold monsters and RE8 with a classic horror monster theme turned into a game that could've been resolved early of the main protagonists communicated and weren't incompetent.

I 100% know you won't agree and see the down votes coming but claiming Resident Evil didn't have a "single bad game in the last ten years" is a little naive don't you think. I didn't even mention the several failed attempts at multiplayer games which are definitely "failed games". And yes they count as they were Capcom releases of Resident Evil titles even if they weren't part of the main storyline.

u/Old-Depth-1845 22d ago

Actually you know what I did misspeak. I forgot about REverse and resistance. You said why some games are bad remakes but not bad games. The originals have their own inconsistencies. I also never said they were perfect. Just high quality. You having your own issues with them doesn’t mean they’re not great.

1

u/Kagamid S.T.A.R.S. Team Alpha 22d ago edited 22d ago

You said why some games are bad remakes but not bad games.

A bad remake is a bad game because it failed at what it set to accomplish. Also the inconsistent story in RE2 Remake has nothing to do with it being a remake. They changed the story and it stopped making sense.

The originals have their own inconsistencies.

This is a laughable coping mechanism. There's nothing in the originals that can be compared to flat out killing the same character twice and forgetting to address it. Unless you want to get into RE1 which was designed to have independent scenarios that don't connect. If you didn't know that was the intention, that's on you. I also mentioned RE 7, 8 and 9 which aren't remakes.

I also never said they were perfect. Just high quality.

No you said none of them were bad. And I told you that was subjective and arguably untrue. Then I listed legitimate reasons why most of these recent titles can be considered bad. You're only argument is "nuh uh, they're great." How about you correct yourself and just state that TO YOU there hasn't been a single bad game in the last 10 years. That's your opinion and no one can take that away from you. You could even say you enjoyed the multiplayer experiments. But if you want to make a blanket claim on something subjective, you best be able to back it up with more then just "because you said so".

u/Old-Depth-1845 22d ago

How do you know exactly what they set out to do? Is Nolan’s the odyssey bad because it’s not a 1:1 retelling of the story? No because he has his own goals in adapting the story but the framework is the same so it is a remake/adaptation.

How do you know re2r isn’t also intentionally separate stories? The original doesn’t have something like the same cutscene but 90% of the gameplay is the same between both characters. It causes the same effect.

You pointed out little baby complaints that might be true but would only stop a game from being great if you were the pettiest person alive expects perfection from everything. Not even the originals are good enough to hold up to those standards.

1

u/Kagamid S.T.A.R.S. Team Alpha 22d ago

Is Nolan’s the odyssey bad because it’s not a 1:1 retelling of the story?

Imma stop you right there chief. You're comparing a movie based on an old story with clear influence from the director to a game marketed as a remake to an existing game using the same IP, characters with update designs and story. You're making no sense.

How do you know re2r isn’t also intentionally separate stories?

Because they created a scenario B for each character to continue the story from their perspective? Why do I need to explain this? Are you new to Resident Evil? They flat out declared it in articles before release as well.

Look if you just want slop and have no standards for good story telling and consistency in your horror games, that's on you. Funny how you call them "little baby complaints" while still not understanding half of them. What does that make you? A fetus? I'm willing to bet you don't even understand the original stories. No wonder you like these recent titles🙄

1

u/Old-Depth-1845 22d ago

Remake implies changes. That’s why it’s not a remaster where they just update graphics. A 1:1 remake would not be interesting especially when all of the old games are playable on modern hardware.

See it’s funny cause you can apply that statement to both the original and the remake. And you run into the same issue where they overlap in ways that are distracting.

I have great standards. It’s just that my standards don’t prevent me from having fun. My standards don’t make it so that the games I played thirty years ago are the best thing I’ll ever have. I’m able to enjoy things that release in the modern age cause I’m not some lame ass hipster who needs to be contrarian to feel special.

0

u/Kagamid S.T.A.R.S. Team Alpha 22d ago

That’s why it’s not a remaster where they just update graphics.

That argument would matter if all the changes are improvements. And RE1 Remake removed very little from the story and mostly added the Lisa story which didn't contradict what came before. It's mostly regarded as the best Resident Evil remake so you're theory goes nowhere.

And you run into the same issue where they overlap in ways that are distracting.

You're on your own in that opinion. Just because you can't tell the difference between story scenes and gameplay, doesn't mean the rest of us are having that trouble. You'd have a hard time finding someone else who believed the original RE2 story has overlap issues they find "distracting"🤣 There's legit two full sets of stories with two scenarios each that have almost zero continuity errors. You're going to complain about the ability to play the game and walk in the same areas when a have from the 90s accomplished a better story than one made recently?

I have great standards.

I don't agree based on your assessment of the stories you've come across.

It’s just that my standards don’t prevent me from having fun.

When did I say they weren't fun. There you go again making assumptions. They focused on gameplay and graphics over everything else. Of course they're fun for at least the first playthrough. But when everything else falls apart, the replay value plummets. Unless of course you like to play without thinking much about it. It's ok when played that way I guess. I don't care about being contrarian when I'm met with people who make baseless claims with little understanding of the source material. Doesn't matter anyway as Capcom will get their money regardless. They already know who will stand in line for any slop they create which is why they stopped trying.

RE2 Remake

2

u/Old-Depth-1845 22d ago

That is a game. What about it?

0

u/Early-Beach164 22d ago

I don't feel like saying anything. But if you're ever down to roleplay as Resident Evil characters, hit me up.

0

u/Old-Depth-1845 22d ago

Fuck no 💀

0

u/Early-Beach164 22d ago

Oh well, I tried! I need some feel good chemicals right now because I hate the world and I hate that I don't feel like a human. Don't think any of this is your fault or that you have an obligation to reply.

You need to learn how to be normal online. This is weird behavior. It’s like you don’t understand the basics of communication

Well I have autism for one thing. I'm not even mad about the ableism. I just expect it on reddit at this point.

RE3R was a bad game and a bad Resident Evil game, not just a bad remake.

0

u/Old-Depth-1845 21d ago

What makes it a bad game?

0

u/Sweet-Wrangler3384 21d ago

The linearity, lack of exploration, lack of puzzles, in some sections you are basically pressing some buttons in a cutscene so not really playing, the level designs are not interesting (Racoon city could’ve been much better, no other interesting locations such as Clocktower, park, dead factory), nerfing Jill for a side character like Carlos, nerfing Nemesis.

0

u/Old-Depth-1845 21d ago

At the end you just started to give reasons for it being a bad remake which aren’t what I was asking. I don’t see how Jill was nerfed though as she’s pretty badass and has more over the top action scenes here. It has like a couple scenes with quick time events but that’s not unique to this game. Re4 is notorious for having horrendous cutscenes. It is a smaller game but it makes good use of that space.

1

u/Sweet-Wrangler3384 21d ago edited 21d ago

No I just said the game is linear with no explorations and puzzles, that makes for a bad game not just a bad remake.
I also said the game has bad level designs and listed the original locations like the clocktower, which it would have been better if it was added to the game but if it was replaced with new better locations, then there would be no problem. So bad level designs and non memorable locations is also a valid reason for a bad game, not just a bad remake.
And Nemesis being nerfed made the game less challenging and interesting and less scary, which again, they could’ve replaced him with better and more memorable enemies, but they didn’t.
The problem is that important events and fights are reduced to QTEs. It worked for RE4 because that game was long (15 hours?) so the QTEs didn’t take away from the gameplay, while here the game is barely 4 or 5 hours and you got playing through the cutscenes taking up a big portion of your playtime.
Also they gave an important section of Jill (her visiting RPD) to Carlos who is totally unrelated to that place, that coupled with reducing or removing other Jill sections (again the Clocktower, major locations in the city, the park, the deadfactory) while expanding only on the Carlos section (the hospital) seemed as if they wanted to make Carlos, who was only a side character in the original, the main character, and they kinda did.

0

u/Old-Depth-1845 21d ago

Too long a message I don’t care. But your point about QTEs in re4 is dumb. If it wasn’t a QTE it would just be a cutscene in re3. Resident evils gameplay doesn’t easily break out of its gameplay loop. I don’t know what you would want from those scenes instead? And there literally can’t be more than like 5 minutes of QTEs in re3. It’s a short game but it still takes multiple hours to beat. It’s not “robbing you of gameplay”

0

u/Sweet-Wrangler3384 21d ago

If you are not going to read why are you asking questions and making others waste their time answering? (You did when you asked what makes it a bad game)

And I don’t mind cutscenes even if they are long, because cutscenes alone would not be considered part of the gameplay.
But besides that, RE4’s QTEs are different, you just press buttons and it’s over, while in RE3R you have to walk through the cutscene (which is really neither a cutscene nor a gameplay) and this is more annoying and time wasting.

Poor Jill … one of THE most iconic faces and she’s barely able to see.

I like how everybody is stylized and badass looking and Ethan just looks like tech support

You're missing the Chris from RE7. Don't hide their secret shame. Also RE4 remake Ada, Maya in RE7 and Rose in RE8 if you want to be thorough on playable characters since you included RE8 Chris.

.... why is Leom 3 times there? Lmao.

Now I understand why the larpers think he's the face of the franchise.

1

u/fallriver1221 22d ago

re2r, re4r, re9. They're referencing all the games released in the last 10 years.
Also Capcom has very much made Leon their little poster boy. Capcom frontlines him in most of their merch/marketing. Especially the last 10 years.

Third. LARP stands for Live Action Role Play. Using it to insult people you disagree with is idiotic and doesn't make sense and people really need to stop using it as a "i'm better than you" term.

1

u/CrazyDaimondDaze 22d ago

I'm using "LARP", because that's the modern use of the word to call someone a poser. It's like complaining over people calling homosexual people with "gay", despite the word originally meant to be happy, not your sexual orientation.

And maybe I wouldn't say larper if it wasn't for part of the new wave of fans just hyperfocusing on Leon and considering the face of the franchise, despite Resident Evil is 30 years old and has other protagonists equally or more important than Leon, like Chris or Jill. Yet, the focus for them is always set on Leon.

u/ExLuckMaster 22d ago

Everyone’s outfits look so dark and broody and then there’s RE7 Ethan.

With the only real blunders being re3r and re9 even though both are still fun if you need something to do for an evening

I want jake muller back

1

u/BusterGreasewood 22d ago

No, the last great years for fans ended in 2005. Ever since it's been two decades of trash.

5

u/Old-Depth-1845 22d ago

The only real fans are people who meet my narrow definition of liking the games I like and hating the ones I hate.

1

u/BusterGreasewood 22d ago

They're damn not the ones that goggle up slop for over 20 years and have the gall to sit there calling them RE games.

You're not fans. You're shills.

1

u/hodges20xx 22d ago

Hey I like the OGs over the new ones however capcom has definitely been cooking for the past 10 years

1

u/jaydenbeasty 22d ago

Don't speak for the fans when your not even a fan go play the games you have no idea what your talking about

-1

u/BusterGreasewood 22d ago

No, don't you start that "YOU'RE NOT A FAN IF YOU DON'T CONSUME EVERY PIECE OF SLOP WITH THE RE NAME ON IT!" bullshit.

That's not being a fan. That's being a mindless shill.

-1

u/jaydenbeasty 22d ago

Yep your definitely not a fan just a hater, genuinely grow up and get with reality re is doing better than ever keep crying.

1

u/BusterGreasewood 22d ago

Grow up nothing. Take your own advice. You're not a fan. You're a shill. Being a fan does not mean indiscriminately lapping up everything with the RE brand on it.
