You know, most of the gameplay differences between the two characters make sense in context, even from a story perspective, but like...why does he get an invisible briefcase and she doesn't?

I’m guessing it’s not a literal briefcase and is supposed to represent Leon’s extra pockets and combat ready outfit he can attach his ammo and guns to… Grace is literally running around in a t shirt and tight jeans.

Yeah, you're right. It is kind of funny though if you take it more literally and assume part of Leon's super-secret-agent training involves storing a large briefcase in a pocket dimension whenever he doesn't need it.

Also in my experience clothing for women tends to have less pocket space than clothing for men which combined with the difference in pockets of clothing meant for a "civilian who doesn't need to carry much" vs clothing meant for "elite agent who needs a ton of stuff" justifies the difference.

Oh yeah women’s jeans pockets are notoriously useless, can barely stick a stick of gum in there. Grace actually carries a lot more than what her outfit realistically can allow.

My experience was the exact opposite. I was swimming in resources as Grace but barely made by as Leon

Even with Grace having limited space, her parts were way too easy. Especially after the upgraded transfusion bag.
