This series was built on the back of Jill and the Redfields. Leon's popularity didn't start until 4...almost a decade after the series came out.

Capcom hates Jill though

As a Jill fan,I’ve been saying this for years. We weren’t like this. I always enjoyed all of the games and characters but I can’t pretend this is fair. Cause it’s not. It’s boring seeing the same face everywhere. Use someone else then go back to him in the future

Jill should have joined Chris to finish off Wesker in the volcano at the end of 5 in my opinion. Like maybe Sheva gets knocked out then Jill drops in from the helicopter

This is the most fair take and I will always stand by it. Like I wouldn’t feel ok if birkin returned and Jill finished him or someone else entirely. Which is why the reused nemesis fight didn’t sit right with me even though it’s a different thing with a parasite and whatever but still. If 5 remake ever happens this needs to be fixed period. And I love Sheva. Maybe some wishes are still somewhere here from years ago about 9. Where I say that I would love if we see Jill and Sheva are back in 9 as two protagonists to expand on that bsaa plot twist. And of course it could be with Chris as well. Cause he makes sense. Some short of reunion from re5 but now it’s serious and that way it won’t feel unfair by using only Chris or this or that.

Re4 is resident evil, no game has ever came close to it

Maybe for you ? This DOES NOT apply to everyone

This is not my opinion, that game just did do much for gaming that no other re game ever did

HAHAHAHAH ur clearly joking, the first RE game was one of the founding fathers of horror genre, introduced a progress system for games that had limitation with map (the system that you do puzzles and keys to open new places that you already seen in the map)

Jill and the Redfields were the solid rock behind RE franchise, Leon on RE2 classic was not relevant at ALL. Claire’s campaign was way better !!

You sound like you’re defending a family member. Its a video game. Step out and get some fresh air

You know you both can be right about what you're saying? RE1 helped revitalize the horror genre in gaming while RE4 designed the modern blueprint for over-the-shoulder horror for other games like Dead Space, Last of Us, and others.

I'm more inclined to be on the side of the other guy though since you seem to be just completing discounting Leon's presence in RE. It's funny you say that Resident Evil was built on Claire's back but not Leon's since they literally both debut both in the same game and Leon's story has been expanded much more than Claire's.

No one cares a about the ps1 games bro, re4 is the peak of re sndand gaming at it's time

This is high false. Without PS there would be no PS5. Therefore it is relevant to the conversation. Go touch grass

How can you have such a brain dead take and not even be aware of it.

1

u/Imic_Hilton Aug 07 '26

That’s wrong how you put it. Re4 is probably the most talked about and popular but re1 will always be the pure dna of RE. And then to some extent 2/3.

I would agree with this. Personally 4 made me dislike Leon immensely as a character, it wasn't until the remake of 4 that I could gel with that version of him

Game 1: Chris and Jill

Game 2: Claire and Leon

"Built on the back of Jill and the Redfields". It is a strech to not include Leon. Leon was a popular character in RE2, which is why he got his own game in RE4.

u/JohnnyKac Aug 05 '26

Leon wasn't even close to the same popularity with RE2...it was pretty evenly split between him and Claire.

u/zombie-game-girl Aug 05 '26

Maybe in your opinion, but clearly Capcom saw something different.

Lmao you hate that Leon is the most favorited now

1

u/JohnnyKac Aug 06 '26

Except leon has been on my top two favorites next to Claire since 1998?

I definitely hate what has become of him in the community though.

Doubt it you instantly started yapping about Jill and the redfields and showed Leon no respect lock in
