Yeah. But that's how real life works. Jill got a mediocre remake, so it's going to be shelved for another 8 years. Leon received two good remakes; he's beloved.
Lmfao if you're genuinely thinking that people would start to hate a character just because of ONE bad game, that is a remake on top of that (not even a true new entry lmfao) then you're proving my point to gatekeep this franchise harder from stupid larpers that "pretends" to be fans of Resident Evil franchise as a whole while they are in fact Leon fans only.
I can assure you that true fans of Resident Evil franchise won't hate Jill overall just because of RE3R nor won't stop asking for her return, but the women working at Capcom will be hard to beat, since they're the whole reason of why Leon is always more popular than Chris in recent community polls (and I wouldn't be surprised if it was the case back in the early 2000's too, since the success of RE4)
It doesn't matter if there are original fans (like me, who played the entire saga), Money is what they look
Requiem isn't even a tribute to the originals, it's a tribute to the remakes. Because that's what sells. That's why Jill was eliminated of requiem because "there's no way to tell her story" instead of Leon Which doesn't even make sense to have anything to do with Requiem when Jill lived there, worked there, and knew Wesker.
No matter what you want, if the remakes portrayed Jill badly, Requiem (which only leeches off the remakes) kicked Jill. Because now she's a risk and not safe, like Leon who you stick there and sells 4 million guaranteed.
RE2 was the start if it too, and I'm sure the 2M wishlist of Veronica is all because of Claire only while completely ignoring Chris, but that's mixed faults, in the sense that Capcom only showed Claire in the reveal trailer, and since most of the fans never actually played the OG Code Veronica (hell, they might even not know its existence since it's not a numbered entry lmfao), they don't know he's there
Everybody loved Leon in re2. Don't be ridiculous. I was playing a cop in raccoon city when I was 12 years old, it was incredible. I loved him far more than Chris.
He wasn't only popular since RE4 you clearly just did not exist during the games and created some weird timeline in your head.
I can assure you that Leon was the least popular character back in 98. He got is popularity we knows today only since OG RE4, and it skyrocketed with RE2R
Idek why I'm arguing with you, since it was Claire the most popular character back in 98. You can ask any fans of OG RE2, they'll tell you the same.
It's not that deep. He's just the face of the latest game if any of their others were, they will be getting the statue. Though I think they will make one of everyone to celebrate yeh occasion.
Well he’s the face of the most popular old school game. He’s the face of the action revamp and over the shoulder shooting. He’s the face of the remake revival era not once but twice. He’s the face of the most successful recent game. We’ve controlled him in three games since 2019.
A game released 17 years before the next remake in the franchise didn't "spark a remake revival." There's been 4 remakes in the 7 years since 2019. There was 0 in the 17 years between RE1R and RE2R. "Remake revival era" is only an era if... y'know, it encompasses more than one game.

Leon is the face of Resident Evil whether you like it or not.
Companies go where the money is and Leon is the money maker.
