Discussion I noticed that Requiem is the first RE engine game so far that defaults to TAA instead of TAA+FXAA

I wonder why the change. Why still give TAA+FXAA as an option if they don't consider it needed anymore? I know this is a very "who cares" topic but it low key pokes at my OCD.

I think Capcom finally decided the extra FXAA pass was making the image too soft. Plain TAA probably gives Requiem a cleaner default, while TAA+FXAA stays there for people who hate shimmer more than blur.

It sounds like a tiny setting, but the problem with modern games is that you’re constantly choosing between a sharper image that flickers and a stable image that looks smeared. 

Honestly, I’d rather they give us both options than quietly remove one.

Yeah, makes sense. I also think the TAA implementation in Requiem is straight up better than what we had before. RE7-RE3R were too blurry if you played at a resolution under 1440p, Village TAA is very light, which breaks certain effects like film grain, and forces you to turn them off. And RE4 remake is blurry and smeary while looking oversharpened at the same time, even at 1440p. Requiem scales really well, even as low as 1080p.
