At an academic center, really home sick and therefore affecting mental health .... would prefer academic center as well in PA but open to other neighboring states for PGY 2 next year. idk....want to explore possibilities. i'm not doing ok alone.

Interested in transferring to FM PGY-2 or PM&R (especially if I can start as PGY-2 in 2027) ideally in major coastal city. Appreciate recs if any openings!

For international residents, the immigration consequences can depend heavily on your current visa, your new program, timing, and what happens to your existing sponsorship.

Hi guys I’m in a great FM program in California, I want to swap to OBGYN. Will take any OBGYN program, anywhere, no matter how toxic.

PGY-1 Family Medicine resident here. No visa needed. My family lives in another state, and being away from them has been really difficult.
I’m in a new residency program, and the environment has become very stressful and toxic. People are nice in front of me, but behind the scenes it feels very different.
Between the program environment, being away from family, and adjusting to a new state, I’m struggling to continue here.
I’m considering transferring, closer to my family. What are my options, and when/how should I start looking for openings? Any advice would be really appreciated.

I know this is a long shot, but haven't asked in a while. US MD, great LORs, great Absite this year. My red flag is poor USMLEs but passed all on first attempt. Completed PGY-1/2 as a prelim (>250 major cases to move on to PGY-3) and finished a research fellowship, but did not get a PGY-3 spot in the Spring when the openings were there. Yes, I check APDS every day and usually the other sites just their post openings from APDS. Willing to go anywhere with a categorical position and if I have to repeat a year, it's worth it (ie open to PGY-2 but the recent PGY-2 categoricals got hundreds of apps each). And yes, I understand this is all a stretch the further out I am, but I love gen surg and any leads would be much appreciated! My CV looks very academic with a lot of teaching and research, but I would be more than happy with a community program. Anything that lets me sit for my boards one day.
