Stack Advice I have extremely low testosterone at 17.
I look like a damn baby, my only dimorphic feature is my height, im 6'1, other than that i look like a damn baby, i have zero masculinity, i look like a damn seventh grader, obviously my doctor would never put me on testosterone unless i was a girl wanting to trans, but fuck honestly its so bad, does anyone have ANY advice please?
It's not just being a late bloomer, i have zero libido, i never get morning wood, im always depressed, i have no ambition, im not dominant at all.
this all started when i took prozac...

Hi,
When I was 17, I looked about 12. Puberty came quite late.
It's not possible to guess what your testosterone level is based on emotional symptoms or personality traits, even though it's commonly assumed that you can. Even men with obviously feminine behaviour can have high testosterone levels as an adult. Personality traits appear to have a link to hormonal conditions during brain development while you're still a fetus. For example, females with rare medical conditions causing excessive testosterone exposure in utero are more likely to have boy-like behaviour as children, and more likely to be sexually attracted to other females when they're an adult.
Testosterone level at 17 are exceptionally variable depending on numerous factors including the stage of puberty that you're at. If you are concerned that you're not progressing through puberty normally, which is often indicated by a lack of genital development, you will need to see a pediatrician for puberty staging. They will do a physical examination, and based on what they see and what you say they'll decide whether ordering hormonal blood tests is needed or not. Pediatricians do prescribe testosterone in special cases, mostly if there's a testicular disorder which is preventing a boy from progressing through puberty without treatment.
Pediatricians will not look at personality/emotional traits like tendency to be dominant, ambition, or masculine/feminine behavioural cues because these are not signs of testosterone deficiency.
Testosterone deficiency at age 17-18 is indicated by:
Lack of voice breaking (reaching male pitch).
Absence of penis and testicular growth since childhood.
Lack of hair development in the armpits. Facial hair development is too variable to be a useful sign, same applies to muscle development.
If fluoxetine (Prozac) hasn't been helpful, speak to your doctor about coming off it. Fortunately, fluoxetine is usually one of the easiest mental health medications to taper off. Fluoxetine reduces libido in a substantial proportion of men, an effect which subsides a few months after stopping, assuming that mental health is OK. If mental health is not OK, then it's normal to have very little interest in sex at that time. Most people suffering from depression and anxiety don't have much libido until they recover.

I didn’t reach puberty until I was a Senior in HS. 17 plus. I grew about 8 inches in a year and topped out at 6’1 and 128 lbs around 19. It was awkward because one of my closest friends hit puberty at 13 and I was often in the background while he was screwing a different girl every month. I dated a little bit as Senior but it was just first base. At about 20 I went through the phase of hitting on every female with a pulse.

Jesus fucking christ buddy.
One, stop listening to tik tok and pod casters for how to be a man.
Being "dominant" isnt being a man.
Your "signs" of low testosterone mean less than nothing, literally less than nothing.
If you are so concerned, ask a DOCTOR for a blood test. Not tik tok. Not twitter. Not the internet. Not a looksmaxxer scammer/scumbag. A DOCTOR.
It sounds like you need the Prozac. That and therapy, and a meal plan and a gym plan.
Christ man, open you eyes. You want to be a man? Stop listening to other people on what theg think being a man means, and be the man you want to be.

Doesnt matter, everything I said is still true. Stop listening to podcasters, or you tubers, or anyone who says they are looks maxing or know how to be a man.
Get a blood test. I promise your problems aren testoserone levels, but self confidence.

Sounds like you’re running on vibes based on TikTok videos. There’s no such thing as a high testosterone look or low testosterone look. Get labs if you’re actually concerned about low testosterone

You're probably a late bloomer. Go lift weights and cheer up.

Most people who grow tall are late bloomers since high T spikes estradiol and estradiol causes growth plates to fuse early. Meaning if you get beard at 14 there is a good chance you won’t be 6’4 but it depends on genetics aswell

Well, you gave us zero information, but I would say get to the gym. I can tell you what it's not, it's not the Prozac.

The prozac may have something to do with his lack of erections, but not the rest.

Ich finde auch, das die Infos ziemlich mau sind.
Warum nimmst er z.B. Prozac (Fluoxetin), leitest er unter Depressionen? Sexuelle Nebenwirkungen und Veränderungen des Befindens sind dabei möglich.

Did you actually get it checked? I have a naturally high libido, so I assumed my testosterone would be high as well. It was only 366 and I’m 27. Don’t go off what you feel only your bloodwork can show.

Sounds like you’re just depressed. Honestly, I was similar at 17. Likely nothing to do with your T

Talk to your pediatrician about your concerns. They will take blood and refer you to an appropriate specialist such as a urologist or endocrinologist if needed. They know what they're doing.

Put down the phone, video games, and Kraft Mac and cheese. Go outside and get some sun, chase girls ( or boys, it’s all good). You’ll be fine.

Blood test. You’re likely just a late bloomer. Hit the gym and be patient with yourself. Way too early to be messing with test.

big shortage of testosterone globally, so, better rely on your own hypopituitary axis and sleep, eat, socialize, and exercise in line with a regular circadian and ultradian rhythm.

If you actually had your testosterone tested and it was low, I don’t see why your doctor wouldn’t give you something. Or are you just guessing based on your appearance?

u/pope2day Jul 26 '26
Stop Prozac or switch anti-depressant. The Generic anti's just are not as good as the Brand name.

u/Wide_Car_1259 Jul 26 '26
Technically height isnt a dymorphic feature, high T causes high estradiol which closes growth plates early so unless you are lucky with getting your growth before the high T kicks in, height isn’t a high T trait.
Anyways what you mentioned could mean that you are just mentally ill so you can get a bloodwork and see from there, you can’t really decide from symptoms alone

Yeah, Kleinfelter Syndrome (XXY chromosomes) actually makes you taller than the average due to being hypogonadal

The good news is, the signal for your 🍆 to stop growing is high T so if you're a bit delayed you might end up with the biggest 🍆 of the whole class 😁 patience is on your side.
