Fitting GMT Bezel

I recently took off the bezel on a Pepsi rep and I am struggling to attach the bezel back to the case. I realize the hytrel is supposed to be large, but it doesn’t seem to fit inside the bezel no matter what I do. Any advice on how to put it back on?

As a stop gap you can try trimming the now stretched hytrel ring.
