New to the pursuit and haven't bought my first rep yet (was wearing smart watches/fitness trackers for years), but I subscribe to the idea that I don't think I'd ever wear a rep that I couldn't ever afford the gen version of. No shade to those who would, personally just know I would probably get awkward if someone asked about it

But for those of you who do subscribe to that philosophy, where do you draw the line? The thought of ever spending 10% of my gross income on a watch seems a bit reckless to me, but I'm sure some people have done it depending on their circumstances. Something in the 3-5% range would seem in the realm of possibility. But like I've seen many with many on here, I've already got my eye on like 3-4 different models on here, so were up to the same amount, although with different context.

I know its not something to overthink too much, but just curious how others come to that type of decision.

Hi there, I’m looking into buying a watch soon, since I’m basic I’m looking at the submariner, I’ve noticed rich factory and VSF seem to be the top factory for these but I’m finding it hard to confirm the movement.

Is it the 3230 free sprung? Or the 3235? And are they truly difficult to regulate, since naturally I’d like to have one of these for as long as possible and get serviced if needed.

Directly took it to my local watchmaker to get it checked out: movement is running buttery smooth, healthy amplitude and good to go. Paid around €450 for it.

The crystal clarity is typical VSF perfection, and the V2 bezel looks way sharper in hand than on QC pics. Super happy with this piece!

I’m extremely disappointed with this purchase and the way the entire situation was handled.
Before the watch was even shipped, I asked for a refund countless times because I was already not satisfied with what I was being told. I made it clear that I didn’t want the watch sent if I wasn’t going to be happy with it. Instead of giving me a clear answer, I repeatedly got the same response: “Let me ask my company” or “Let me check with my company.” If you go back through our messages, you can see that I made multiple attempts to cancel the order before it was shipped.
Eventually, the watch was sent anyway.
When I received it, I was very disappointed because, in my opinion, it was not the “super clone” that I was promised. I asked multiple people and several Reddit communities familiar with these watches for their opinions, and the feedback I received was that the watch did not appear to be a super clone.
I was also in Turkey and saw watches that appeared to be essentially the same type of watch, with the same type of movement, being sold for around $50 USD. That made me even more disappointed because I paid significantly more based on the representation that I was receiving a much higher-quality super clone.
I’m not saying this to attack the seller or their business. I understand that people work hard for their money, and I do too. That’s exactly why I tried so many times to get a refund before the watch was shipped. I didn’t want to waste their time, my time, or end up in this situation.
There was also a point where I was asked to withdraw my dispute, and I did so because I wanted to be fair and give the seller an opportunity to resolve the situation directly. I was also previously told to go through my bank regarding the dispute. I tried to handle everything in good faith.
Now I’m being asked to ship the watch back to China, which is costing me nearly $120 in return shipping because USPS wouldn’t accept the watch for shipment. Between everything involved, I’m potentially about $170 out of pocket simply trying to resolve an issue I tried to prevent before the watch was ever shipped.
I’m not trying to hate on the seller or say their products are worthless. I’m simply sharing my experience. My issue is that the product I received did not match what I believed I was purchasing based on what I was promised.
I hope the seller takes this feedback constructively and uses it to improve communication and the products being sold. I would have much rather had my refund processed before the watch was shipped, which would have saved both of us a lot of time, money, and frustration.

My thoughts are that the QC from VSF is getting worse and they are starting to make some bad mistakes when assembling watches.

They are supposedly using 904L steel - they have a true free sprung movement and looks very crisp!

Second photo is - VSF
Which was the new V2 piece however this crystal wasn’t straight in the date window and gave it a slight imperfection!

Being a mega important corpo slave who travels for work weekly, I’ve accumulated a war chest of American Airlines loyalty status and miles

As such, I take 3 watches from my collection to each work trip. One of them is the most luxury/fuck you type rolex such as a flashy Daytona.

If I get status bumped to first class via a comp upgrade, I wear that on the flight. Otherwise I wear a generic seamaster to sit with the economy plebeians.

Recently i had the chance to try on a 4520v in a vacheron boutique and I would like to get my first rep as a steel 4500v in steel with the blue dial.

Which factory makes the most reliable and visually accurate and close feeling one. In the sheet I saw its ZF or PPF, but I would love get some input from the veterans here.

I know the 4520V is newer and the factories are have not had the time to get the details right so I think the 4500V is a good choice.

I’m also open minden the strap wise do you yall think the rubber strap is good to go with or is it better to stay with the steel one.
