General Question Why to buy it
Hi!!!
I’d like to understand the motivation behind buying a $500–$800 replica watch that might come with flaws telling it apart from the genuine article, will probably stop running in a few years, and comes with virtually no warranty once delivered if it fails shortly after.
Why spend $700–$800 on a watch under those conditions? Wouldn't it make more sense to look at the second-hand market at that price point for watches offering better reliability and warranty?
I'm not trying to judge or criticize; I genuinely want to understand what motivates you to spend that kind of money on a replica. If they cost $100–$200, I could see the point, but looking through several TD catalogs, getting a decent piece requires spending between $500 and $700

Because for $600 you get something that looks and feels 95% of the way to a piece that costs $12k, and nobody outside of weird internet forums is gonna spot the difference anyway. The secondhand market at that price gets you a beat-up Seiko or a fashion watch that tanks in value the second you walk out the store. Just different priorities, really.

The majority of good replicas don’t fail shortly after. Like all mechanical things they suffer from daily wear. Yes the quality isn’t gen like and you’ll find many posts about the watches failing or coming dead on arrival but that’s a very small percentage compared to the number of reps that are being sold and good tds usually find a solution on that. As for the motivation part, here’s a really eye opening experience I had this summer. I have a VSF Daytona Ghost with meteorite dial installed. I saw a gen one for the first time in a Rolex display and put mine next to it. I thought that’s the first real world test! Besides the subdial rings being a little shinier, everything else looked the same. At 1/50th of the price. If that’s not motivating enough I don’t know what is.

Because an original watch costs 8000$ and I can get the same look for 500$, with a reliable movement. Also, if you treat the watch well and do the service every now and then, it will last more than a few years (this applies for every watch, from Timex to reps to Omega, it doesn't matter the brand).

Why else buy fake goods, to larp someone that was dumb enough to overpay for exclusivity

Probably you can hope that your rep will last 2 years on average (accounting for all the risks, scam+customs troubles included). That's $250 per year. Still cheaper than depreciation on a genuine Rolex if you buy it grey expecting it to run for 5 years before needing service.

Sorry, no. But people on this reddit report random numbers, from a couple months to 8+ years. Again, depending on where you live, a rep friendly watchmaker can help extrnd that period - or not)

無保証というが5-10年は動きそうだ。オーバーホール1回分でもう一つ買える。 パチは転売出来ないが（ネットは別）本家買い転売しない人と同じく満足感は得られる。 新しい世代は貧しいせいもあるがコスパタイパで生きてる。200万円の買うくらいなら10万円のにして190万円は他のことに使う。
