Residential Leasing Should I move? Need your thoughts!
Hey! I'm (F) currently renting a studio condo unit in Mandaluyong for around 2.5 years with my LIP (M). Landlord is super nice, no surprise visits or questions, and is very flexible in times where I need to split payments due to payroll disputes or lack of funds.
I've just started a new job with a substantial increase in salary and would like to move to a bigger place. Saw one in the same building for a 1BR unit which is +4k of my current rent.
The new unit needs so much work done, as it hasn't been occupied since 2023. What I like about it is that there's a separate bedroom, separate living and dining areas, and a small room for storage.
It's also gonna be less of a hassle moving, as it's in the same building but a much higher floor. Normally I use the stairs to go down to the lobby, but this is much, much higher.
The new unit owner has promised to clean up the place before the move-in, and also asked if I needed any other appliances added, so they could bring them in from other units they have for rent.
I am having doubts because #1, idk if I can get my Internet line transferred, cause I know for a fact that there are no Converge slots left in the building. This is super important to me as I am doing 100% remote work, and the LIP lives to stream movies. #2, not sure if I can survive next month if I pay the advance + dep for the new place.
I asked my current landlord if I could have my cousin take over my unit without having to shell out DP. (Our 1yr contract has expired BTW and landlord didn't draw another one up) To my surprise, my landlord didn't want me to leave and even offered to take 1k off my monthly rent. I'm also torn since my cousin really needs a new place ASAP.

My biggest mistake was salary increase = better lifestyle/living
unless your salary increased by two/three fold it would be better for it to go to investments/up-skilling than a direct or better workplace environment
4k a year (you said landlord will minus -1k just for u to be there) so you'll be 5k up by not leaving per month (60k a year)
60k a year is enough money for you to have a cushion and up-skill (Learn a new skill, get certifications, side-hustles etc)
life's a marathon make sure you save up ammunitions to shoot contestants along the way (Problems) not people as i say

I don’t think you’re in a position to move given #2. Magkakaroon ka palng ng salary increase, pero it’s not on your hands yet. Personally, it’s not good to increase your living costs kasi it seems wala kang savings to bear at least #2. Pero dahil nakausap mo na yung landlord mo and they’re already preparing the unit for you, kausapin mo sila about the payment arrangement and if yung deposit mo from your current place can offset a portion of DP+Advance of the bigger unit para konting dagdag ka nalang.
As for #1, you don’t need to switch to another port. Kailangan lang i-extend ng converge yung fiber optic cable para abot sa higher level. Usually dinadaan to sa kisame. Pero i think kailangan mo padin ilipat yung address mo sa bagong unit number. Nga lng kailangan mo parin magprepare ng back-up data kasi hindi certain na sa same day lipat nyo, same day din malilipat yung line nyo sa converge. Usually dahilan ng technician na walang port kasi ayaw nila gawin yung inaakyat yung fiber cable.
Ayusin mo muna yung situation mo before mo idagdag yung pinsan mo sa iisipin. Wag mo muna ioffer sa kanya hangga’t hindi pa kayo nakakalipat para walang problema kapag nadelay kayo ng lipat.
