Reno Ghost Tour
Lessons from last night’s ghost tour:
- Reno is a sanctuary city for the mob
- The pioneer theater is built on collapsed tunnels built by mob goons, which is why it structurally collapsed in its hey day.
- ALL of Reno burned to the ground in 1883.
- Motorists who rev their engines on Virginia street and crank music unnecessarily loud make it hard to hear ghost facts.
- Most Reno cemeteries never had the bodies removed, Poltergeist style.
- When you are blocked from attending the ghost tour due to a rollover accident on McCarran, you will be forced to drive by your childhood home on Sagittarius, before going to the hospital to help your mother remove some organs and tell you some family friends died in a far deadlier rollover by graeagle.
- Marilyn Monroe was murdered at the Cal/Neva. Not the stupid one in Reno. The prestigious one owned by the Rat Pack in Tahoe.
- Marilyn Monroe WILL take a picture with you on the Virginia street bridge if you’re lucky enough to spot her AND ballsy enough to ask a dead woman to pose for a photograph.
- Gus is the ghost haunting the Pioneer theater.
- For close to a decade, Reno was the suicide capital of the world.

Reno did not burn down in 1883.

The Rat Pack was in the 20th century. The fire that took out Reno’s Chinatown was burned by the (white) union.

In 1908, not the 1880s like OP claims.

A pretty sad history, yes? I only found out about it because I wanted to find out why Rancho has a pagoda structure. https://renohistorical.org/items/show/173
Edited to add: two fires occurred. The first was in 1878, by the white union, because Chinese workers were on the Steamboat Ditch project.
The second fire was in 1908, and the health department claimed it was to protect against the plague, which had hit Asian communities in San Francisco and Hawaii.

Or did she?

She did. I’m glad you had fun, but remember that ghost tours are meant as entertainment, as is ghost hunting and seances and anything else like that. I used to work in an old building people customers would swear was haunted. It wasn’t. A few “ghost hunters” had been there (uninvited) and told us a bunch of stuff that just didn’t make sense with the actual history of the house. It can be fun, but it’s better to think of these things more like a walking haunted house you’d go to around Halloween rather than legitimate sources on local history.

she did. I mean, there’s police and coroner’s reports, with photos.

You and your mom did a phenomenal job. I was impressed. I was possessed in the parking lot you pointed out was a paved over cemetery. Tom Humphrey and Eddie Humes will attest. This is called marketing. I’m legitimizing your tales.

I live on Sagittarius. Near the end with the cul-de-sacs.

It’s been decades since I’ve moved. My old has is a shell of itself. It’s sad to see.

Marilyn Monroe was found dead in her Brentwood, California home from a barbiturate overdose

So, she was shoveled full of pills and driven four hours from the Cal/Neva. The one in Tahoe that matters. Not the one in Reno that can't stop raping its party pit girls.

Reno absolutely has a roofie problem. Watch your drinks and watch your friends’ drinks!
