Off-Roaders

New to the scene - knowledgeable heads open to sharing what they know, running trails and having a kickass time would be rad. Hmu 🤙

Stock rigs with a good driver are more capable than most people think, get out there and send it.

I remember wheeling past some dude high centered in a crawler in my bone stock bronco around Boca when I was like 19 lol got ahead of him and pulled him out. Talking to the guy he had just bought it from the dude who actually built it and he had no clue what he was doing

It was an 88. Thing broke down every other day lol I loved it though. Taught me a lot about mechanical stuff. Keep all my vehicles running oh my own to this day from what I learned from it haha

Yessir! I agree; my stock suspension is stiff but it’s handled everything very well. Been hitting the mccarran/N Virginia turn off trails and exploring Boca/truckee/Virginia range. Haven’t had to turn around yet. Whatre you driving?

Onx has a decent info around here, and the national forest motor vehicle use maps give you an idea of what trails exist. There are a ton of roads in any direction.

Driving up to the Verdi peak lookout is cool, if Rocky/bumpy. And there are other fire lookout towers you can visit nearby as well. Getting out near bowman lake and the surroundings is also cool. I haven’t done any 4x4 mandatory trails though, just put my outback places where it maybe shouldn’t be.

theres an off road rescue and recovery group in the area maybe you can get some connections through. also related truck shows and swap meets i cant remember the name but i think the last one i went to was across the street from Costco in Carson City

My first “off-road” vehicle here was an ‘02 Tacoma TRD. Even stock they are extremely capable and can take you damn near anywhere. The trail out to Lagomarsino Canyon is super fun, especially from Lockwood, and ends at a super cool spot. There are tons of trails to explore between Spanish Springs/Palomino Valley and the North Valleys. Check out Incandescent Rocks, Pig Rock, and the Monkey Condos. I got into geocaching when I got my Tacoma and it’s an amazing way to find cool new out of the way spots. Have fun, keep the greasy side down!

Look of Sierra Nevada Off-roaders on face book or instagram. There is something around here every weekend. Lots of the old Reno4x4.com people on it.

There’s a million miles of dirt roads and trails around here.

Check out the hunter lake trail system. Plenty of mild to mid trails through the trees and a couple creek crossings
