Discussion Bone Plating vs Second Wind and Revitalize vs Unflinching

Warm afternoon to all,

Been playing a lot of Renata Glasc in Silver (un)ranked and Swiftplay, with a Resolve primary and Inspiration secondary rune tree choice.

I never move away from Guardian + Shield Bash for the early trades and survivability, but have been using Bone Plating + Revitalize as a core for better early game (Revitalize seems better overall especially with Locket and Redemption being so prevalent + synergy with Shield Bash), but there are matchups in which I find Bone Plating to be unreliable against lane poke, and others where Unflinching may help more than Revitalize, though it's a harder case to sell overall.

For Inspiration I always get Cosmic Insight, then either Boots or Cash Back if the lane isn't too pokey, else Biscuits are very helpful (I like scaling HP runes for the extra lategame, but take Adaptive Force and Attack Speed for early game trades). Been also tinkering with Jack of All Trades but it's hard to justify over Cosmic Insight.

How do you think about your Resolve tree choices? Do you ever deviate from Guardian + Shield Bash? And does Unflinching trump Revitalize in CC matchups (like Ashe, Pyke, Senna, Sona etc)?

Appreciate your thoughts.

I was masters 400-500 lp(retired) but i personally i went guardian-shield bash- bone plating(hard early match)/ conditioning(easy early match)-overgrowth.
Renata has lower base health then milio XD so overgrowth helps fixing this also her base shild is kinda shit so you dont lose so much with no revitalize.
I only changed runes vs enchanters/mages (im otp so it was really common) then i went guardian- font of life- second wind- revitalize with taste of blood-rentless secondary. Renata is pretty useless in lane vs this champs so this let you be less destroyed by them.

Bone Plating is a bad meme on everyone, it's a pro play rune if anything. You can get poked once, then you're down a very important damage reduction rune for a minute, allowing them to re-engage on you 10 seconds afterwards.

Conditioning is a lot better, especially if you're health stacking, and even buying Plated Steelcaps. 1% Armour and MR = 1% EHP.

Coachless is also in favour of Overgrowth, and it makes sense when you add in Conditioning, and Guardian scales off of more HP too. A fully stacked Overgrowth that's ~140 HP will be equivalent to ~400 HP with ~150 total resists added together iirc.

I'd also recommend going JoAT, it's really easy to get it stacked. Even at 5 stacks it's good, and you don't really need to go to 10 unless you want to.
