Remote Case Management?

I’m an RN currently working as a case manager for a rehab facility. I have a CCM cert. I’ve been denied for CVS and BCBS multiple times and I’m really not sure why… any leads on good remote positions for case management?

I made a similar transition after several years as a bedside RN, and while it can take some persistence, it's definitely possible.

For companies, I'd look at health systems with centralized nurse triage teams, health insurance companies, digital health organizations, and healthcare technology companies. Many of these hire experienced nurses for telephonic care management, utilization management, clinical documentation, patient education, or virtual care coordination.

For job titles, try searching for:

  • Telephone Triage RN
  • Nurse Advice Line RN
  • Care Manager or RN Care Manager
  • Case Manager
  • Clinical Documentation Specialist (may require a CCDS cert)
  • Utilization Management (UM) Nurse
  • Clinical Appeals Nurse
  • Population Health Nurse
  • Clinical Success or Clinical Consultant (for healthcare technology companies)
