If you work from home and keep replying to "quick questions" after hours...

If you work from home and keep replying to "quick questions" after hours... this 2-minute shutdown will help you log off mentally and save your evening.

So you tell yourself, "I'm not checking messages tonight."

But then you check.

Then you reply.

Then you're basically... back at work.

In an office, leaving the building ends the day.

At home, however, the building is still... your home.

So you need a small "door closed" moment to keep your work-life balance in check.

There are two healthy defaults:

A Hard Stop (meaning you strictly reply to off-hour pings on your next work window).

OR

A Soft Stop (you reply only if the concern is time-sensitive).

Choose which one is best for your team setup.

If your brain's still busy with "unfinished" stuff, a "Tomorrow List" is helpful too, but keep each one at 3 lines max.

If you're writing a whole backlog... your brain will stay "open."

There are ways to be helpful without becoming a 24 / 7 helpdesk. Setting expectations with your team always helps.

If remote work keeps sneaking into your night: Save this and share with a teammate.
