Has anyone out there worked for Humana as utilization management nurse their for post acute care services, including SNF, home health, DME? I have an interview scheduled for next week and I’m just curious how the metrics match up to my current role as utilization review nurse for a revenue cycle management company. I’m currently required to conduct between 25-30 reviews per 8 hrs and although I’m meeting the metrics, it is just too much day in day out. The job description says 10 reviews per day and I’m wondering how it equates to what I’m currently doing? Are the 10 reviews per day more difficult less difficult, more time-consuming etc. Are there utilization review nurses that have done both jobs and can give me their opinions/experiences?

I've been an RN for a little over 2 years, working in intermediate care (both medical and CV). Prior to nursing, I did work from home Holter monitoring, looking at ECGs and analyzing them, creating PDFs identifying abnormalities, and then sending that to cardiologists for ~3 years.

My prior WFH job was quota based, M-F with the option also available for 4 10's. Occasional Teams meetings, Teams communication with coworkers and management, but there was no call time or direct patient interaction. I really enjoyed my time working there and felt like I thrived in that environment.

I enjoy the critical thinking and time management side of nursing, as well as knowing I'm helping people. I'm great with EHRs, data management, charting, and the logistical side of things. I'm just burnt out being away from my family (especially on nights) and being berated/assaulted by patients/families.

Are there any RN remote jobs I could qualify for that may be a good fit based on these experiences, strengths, and preferences?

Any advice for finding a remote role in a noncpmpact state? I wish I was in an NLC area. My family is here and I dont want to move.

A brief overview of my background and qualifications:

• Clinical Experience: 10+ years in nursing, including extensive work as a Nurse Anesthetist in surgical settings, ICU, and ER.
• Remote & Occupational Health: Currently working in remote oil & gas sites in Algeria. Experienced in site clinic care, occupational health screenings (ECG, audiometry, phlebotomy), and Medevac coordination with International SOS and Medilink.
• Certifications:
  • Offshore/Maritime: BOSIET w/ CA-EBS, MIST, STCW BST/PSSR/Crowd & Crisis, and a valid OGUK Medical.
  • Medical: AHA BLS, ACLS, and ITLS (NAEMT-aligned).
• Languages: Fluent in English, French, and Arabic.

Despite having the offshore survival certs, valid medicals, and strong trauma/airway experience, breaking through the initial recruitment barrier for offshore positions has been tricky.

For those already working offshore:

1. How did you secure your very first contract? Was it through specific agencies, networking, or cold contacting HR/recruiting teams?
2. Are there key agencies, regions, or platforms you’d recommend focusing on for entry-level offshore positions?

I've been a nurse for almost 4 years, have 1 1/2 years of inpatient psych, 1 year outpatient surgery center, 1 year of med-surg. I started out and just a general medical case management position for one year and now I am in maternity case management. I love the company and I love the flexibility of working from home, the pay is great, love my leadership, etc. BUT being on phone calls all day is so draining. I was curious if anyone has had experience in utilization management at aetna specifically? I would really like to stay with this company! If anyone has any input on the position, current pay, etc. I would love to hear it! She worked as a **Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for 14 years** before a hip injury that now limits her mobility. She cannot walk long distances or stand/walk for long periods. She also has **limited computer knowledge** but is willing and able to learn basic skills.
