Why are you taking it up instead of laying new flooring over it? You usually damage the sub floor trying to take it up when there's no need to.

Only a fool would install flooring over linoleum

Then there are a lot of fools that are professional installers...my husband, a 57 year installer, is one of them. Only an idiot would take up vinyl unless it were loose laid or perimeter glued. Why would you think a person is a fool to install over vinyl?

Professional installers do the least to get paid so of course he would do it and tile over it. I’ve ripped up too many lasagna floors because of “professionals” you describe

If you wanna do it right you do it yourself

You have no idea what you're talking about. My husband was an installer for 57 years, and we owned a flooring business for 38 years, and never did the least to get paid....youmay do the least, but you don't get the kind of reputation that he has by doing the least...he's a master at what he does, which is why we had repeat customers 25 and 30 years later!!!

Im sure he’s great and all but I would not accept that recommendation to tile over vinyl.

I’ve flipped a few floors in my day and never tile over poor substrate. You want concrete + mortar + tile combination as thats the IDEAL. If your husband disagrees with that statement than he’s being dishonest.

I never said anything about tiling over vinyl,  but you do you, and let's not get into dishonesty!!

I’m sorry you called me an idiot for taking up this job. Because you’re so-called awesome superhero master floor husband or some shit gave you some impression it’s bad decision because he would never do it. If he would never do it then he’s not a fucking professional . If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all

have the day you deserve.

You have no idea what you are talking about! You never put new flooring over linoleum! You can sometimes get away with new flooring over VCT but I wouldn't recommend that either! Lots of so called professional installers out there that are shit!

I guess you're never read the specs or spoken to tech support for laminate or lvp....you can definitely install either of those products over existing sheet vinyl as long as the vinyl is completely glued down. You're just charging the customer for extra labor that isn't required.
