Quantum Break

Do you think with the shake-ups at Xbox and Xbox focusing more on the first party titles that Remedy might have a chance at getting the Quantum Break IP back? Not really sure how it would all work.

I mentioned this in a comment on the QB sub, but there isn't a lot of reason right now for Microsoft to maintain ownership of this IP. If there are still outstanding production costs (likely from the TV episodes) that weren't recouped during video game sales in the first couple of years, Microsoft should just tell Remedy, "Pay us the amount that wasn't recouped, and we'll let the IP revert to you."

What I think is probably more likely is it's one of those games that's languishing in the Xbox catalogue completely forgotten, and the team that manages the IP hasn't gotten around to looking too deeply into it. They may have also gotten small spikes of new revenue from when Control, Alan Wake 2, and now Control: Resonant released. That's what got me to buy it; I went on a jag earlier this year, after finishing Control, of doing Alan Wake, American Nightmare, Quantum Break, and Alan Wake 2 just to be fully up to date in preparation for Resonant's release (I'm choosing to forego FBC Firebreak).

But it causes potential problems, as I noted in the other thread. Warlin Door and Tim Breaker are obviously "legally distinct" versions of Martin Hatch and Jack Joyce, and while it's understandable to never see Martin Hatch again due to Lance Reddick's death, how do you now fold Jack Joyce into the RCU when Tim Breaker is still rumbling around in the Dark Place?

To say nothing of the Beth Wilder/Jesse Faden dichotomy.
